On my Maytag side by side, stainless steel fridge, Model #: MSD2651KES. The freezer works perfectly, but the fridge will not get cold, but if you open the freezer it will start sending cold air to the fridge. Once you close the freezer door it stops sending air into the fridge... What could be my problem?

SOURCE: On my Maytag side by side, stainless steel

Its defrost problem.--------- When you open the freezer door, then ice starts getting defrosted, because outside temperature is warm and due to that inside ice gets bit melted.--------- -------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located. ----------- The damper is operated by a motor. Its a complete damper assembly with motor included in it.--The damper has door.Which closes and open with the help of motor. In your case the damper door is blocked by ice, because your refrigerator is not defrosting. But when you open the freezer door, the inside ice gets bit warm and it starts melting and this lets the fridge section get cool.------------------- In this case you will have to manually defrost the ice and inspect, if the problem solves. For manual defrost procedure, click the link below:-------- Click this below for more detail:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/refrigerator-is-not-cooling-properly.html ----------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have maytag stainless steel fridge and freezer not getiing cold

It could be a couple of things... There should be a temp control inside.. make sure this is set correct.. It could also be a system failure. Either a leak in the gas that fills the back radiator or a faulty pump.. or a board failure.. all these will require an engineer to look at

The bottom freezer works but the refrigerator will not get cold. model# MFF2557HES

Sounds like airflow fan needs to be replaced. Most fridges use a small fan that blows air from the freezer to the refridge. If that fan fails you get working freezer and non cool fridge.

I have a stainless steel Amana model ABC2037DES that was given to me. It has been plugged in for 24 hours and it is not freezing anything or making ice. The refridgerator is not cold enough either. ...

if the compressor is working it could be a thermostat problem
I think that if you check for a reset button at the back to get the compressor running , that will fix the problem

Fridge not keeping cold

check the controls and make sure they are set properly, so that you are getting air into the ref. also a common thing is that the evap fan motor could be bad and not blowing air into the ref area. it could also be the start of a defrost problem

Maytag MSD2651HES fridge not cooling freezer works find

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.
