Can't convert video

I recently restored my computer and now when I plug my sansa 260 it doesn't really recognize it the way it used to. And a couple things happen when I open media converter 2 and try to convert a video. First, at the botton where it says "convert to" it has a fold instead of my device, and then even if I do try to just convert a video to a folder it gives me an error... "the file format is not supported."
I have had my sansa for a couple of years now and I don't remember having to do anything special on my computer to make it work, please help me!!!

Hi
First in order to use the sandisk media converter your mp3 sansa should be recognized by your windows. You need to download MTP.
The new Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) enables you to manage content on any portable device with storag. Download from microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=a2e73160-e862-4f19-bb26-c0cafe798955&displaylang=en Once your sandisk is recognized then you can use the media converter. If you want to bypass media converter then you should buy a new media converter compatible with sandisk sansa and in this case you can convert without sandisk sansa attached to your computer. Please check it on the web. You can start by any video converter which available for free otherwise pro is a shareware: http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

I hav a sansa e260 player it was working just fine until recently the screen is just blank and only the ring glows .my pc doesnt recognize the device please help

Download the converter after you run the link below ....Put check next to converter/firmware update/Manual download...Go to your start menu programs go to sansa choose Sansa updater follow instructions.......(http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/Installer/1082/SansaUpdaterInstall.exe) here is the link After installation connect your sansa......
Also make sure you are connected to a 2.0 usb the back of the computer is best (the motherboard2.gif).... USB mode located on the sansa if asked to change to MSC goto menu press enter scroll to settings press enter scroll to usb mode press enter scroll to msc press enter press menu.....Connect should auto start sansa software..... Sansa software/driver Updates firmware follow instructions Downloads manual Downloads converter

Set sansa to recovery mode, Start the updater plug the sansa into the computer, unplug when told sansa, should restart (Lock sansa press and hold rec and menu until recovery begins)
Reset All
NOTE: THIS IS AN ADVANCED OPERATION AND RESTORES ALL SETTINGS
TO THE FACTORY DEFAULTS. NORMAL USERS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED
TO PERFORM THIS OPERATION!
If your device freezes up press the Menu button and hold for 15 seconds.
This is like a power down of the device. Once you perform the reset, the adjustments you made during last operation
will be gone.....
Go to my computer click on folder scroll to sansa and open the media folder and open each sub folder and delete manually then delete the folders Right click on your sansa then format a couple of times hope this works

I downloaded a Sansa video converter and it keeps saying that my Sansa is not connected after i connect it. Can i have some assistance please?

do u have windows or mac system? if mac,
Although MAC OS is NOT a supported operating system, the Sansa player can still be recognized if the Sansa player is only plugged in MSC mode.

MAC computers do NOT support MTP
A Sansa player in MTP mode when plugged into a MAC computer will NOT be detected or recognized.

MAC computers supports Sansa players in MSC mode
Sansa players can only be recognized by a MAC if the USB mode on the Sansa player is set to Auto Detect or MSC.
See answer ID 207 for instructions on how to put your Sansa player in MSC mode.

See answer ID 1141 for instructions on transferring music to your Sansa player using iTunes on a MAC computer.

Video converter for e250

You can get the Sansa Media Converter from Sandisk's website.

You must use the Sansa Media Converter to transfer videos. If the video is DRM-protected (many of Real's movies are), it may not actually convert. But if the video is DRM-free, then the Sansa Media Converter will perform the conversion and load the video onto the player. The Sansa Media Converter may or may not recognize certain file formats, so you may need to download an additional program such as Riva FLV Encoder to convert the Real video to AVI format first - then the Sansa Media Converter will recognize the file.

Getting dvd's on e260

This might sound like I'm implying you're stupid, but I'm really not. Have you guys tried putting things on your Sansas using the Sansa Media Converter? Can be downloaded from sandisk.com. I've never tried adding videos to my Sansas (yet) but when I just put the photos on the same way I add music, they wouldn't open. Using Sansa Media Converter worked like a charm. Might be worth a try with videos, as well. :-) Good luck!

Sansa e-260

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Videos

You need to use the sansa media converter program that came with the sansa on the CD. This is used for photos1.gif and for video. The supported files are listed on the screen once you open it.You shouldnt have any problems transferring music to it using that program

Sansa e260 says connected but device not recognized

I agree with the above suggestion. Try setting the USB Mode under "Settings" on "MSC" on the Sansa. My computer would not recognize the e260 when the mode was set to "MTP"; works fine on "MSC".
