NEED INSTRUCTION FOR Apple iPod shuffle 3rd Generation Silver

Connect the iPod shuffle USB cable connector into a high-power USB port on your computer.
Note: To charge an iPod shuffle battery, connect the device to a high-power USB port.

Please be aware that USB keyboards and non-powered USB hubs generally do not have high-power USB ports.

If you connect to a low or non-powered port, iPod shuffle will not charge.

The computer must be turned on and set to not go to sleep.

Plug the other end of the iPod shuffle USB Cable into the headphone port on the iPod shuffle.

Verify the iPod shuffle is connected securely.

Once the iPod shuffle is plugged in, it will take about 2 hours to charge the battery to 80% capacity and about 3 hours to charge it to 100%.

Find out how to check the battery charge here

hope this helps

I'm trying to sync an apple ipod shuffle 4th generation to my windows xp pc. The famous USB device not recognized thing pops up. What do i need to do so i can use and sync my ipod.

Shutdown Windows.
Turn the computer off.
Unplug the AC power cord.
Reconnect the AC power cord.
Restart the PC.
This will eliminate many "intermittent" problems.

Now, connect some other USB device (mouse? keyboard? memory-stick?) into the USB port, to confirm that the USB port is working, at least for some USB device.

Now, connect the iPod to one of the USB ports.
If it is not recognized, connect the iPod to a different USB port.

This should work.

IPod Shuffle and compatibility with USB ports

yes it's a common problem, it might be a usb 2.0 or high speed usb port but the motherboard is unable to supply enough ampage to supply the port. Assuming you have tried removing other usb connected peripherals and tried a different port, the only way you may get the ipod to connect is to purchase a mains powered usb hub as the power supplied is sufficient to connect to ipods and pda's etc.
