Its possible the overspeed is set to sensitive. or your rpm are to high. these are preset in the factory as a safety, check your manual to ensure your rpm speed is in the pre set area. generators will do this under load when you have a big load on them or take a load off. the governor will some times over compensate causing it to trip on overspeed.

Generac over-speed fault

check your frequency of the ac, if this is high, then adjust the rpms.
If that is fine and it is shutting down, check overspeed adjustment on control board if it has it.

Generac Guardian 12 KW Model 04456-2 shuts down on overspeed in cold weather

Leigh,
See my 5/22/12 comments on my "overspeed fault" problem resolution [Generac 43903 standby Generator overspeed indicator on starting] . If it only runs for a few seconds and then quits, you may have a similar condition to the one my unit had. A good technician should be able to diagnose the problem and determine if you have a similar failure to the one I had, or one of the other causes suggested by RSG000.

I have a Ducane MPGA100B4B gas furnace. The furnace only runs for about a minute then shut off. It does this far too frequent.\r\n First the induce draft blower turned on for a few seconds to check for...

Hello, sounds like the limit switch is opening on the furnace.Usually when a furnace goes off on its high limit is becuase the airflow is being restricted making the furnace overheat. a limit switch is there to protect the furnaace from overheating, most cuases are either dirt or the blower motor not running up to speed, anything that cuts down on the airflow will cause the high limt switch to open.

Generac 43903 standby Generator overspeed indicator on starting

I have a generator that did the same thing. It would start and then stop within a few seconds. The more expensive generators have an oil level safety switch to prevent the engine from burning up. There is usually a wire connecting to the switch on the outside of the engine near the oil fill hole. Remove this wire and try to start the generator. If it runs without a problem then it is the switch. You need to remove the switch and take it apart carefully and clean it. There is a small float inside the assembly. When the oil runs low the float allows the switch to short to ground which kills the spark to the spark plug. Hope that helps.
