Cinavia is an anti-piracy protection embedded into the PS3 and it triggered by some codes in the audio track of the movie.

You cant play Cinavia protected movies on the Playstation 3 native player.

However If your Ps3 is jail-broken you can use a homebrew player to play those movies.

How to watch a film through ps3
maybe it is the same as a hard drive usually you connect a USB with the film and in my settings it will say either TV or USB I just go on the USB setting and the film or films come up and also by putting a DVD into the hard drive it usually automatically goes to the film settings , this maybe different on a PS3 so hope this helps!

Hi how do i connect my external hard drive to my ps3 and watch films
Step 1. Connect your storage device (I usually use a pen drive) to your computer

Step 2. Copy Movie to the storage device

Step 3. Eject storage device and connect to your ps3 via the USB port.

Step 4. under videos an option of your storage device should be there but do not choose X button instead press triangle for options, then select display all.

Step 6. Locate your movie and select it using X button.

Step 7. Enjoy the movie!!!! This works with MOST movie files, you may find problems watching some movie because of the way they were encoded.

Step 8. Done.

Only Sony can fix this type of problem, contact them, and tell them your problem, they will have your PS3 shipped to them at a low cost to fix it.

Bought hard rain today and it age's to download something then failed. now i can't play anything. no game's will load, but can watch films.
you have a corrupted OS on your ps3. You'll have to try and update it to see if it can correct the problem on its own. If not, you might need a new hard drive or a new ps3.

its like the red rinf of death for xbox its a hard drive problem take the hard drive out then put it back in then i might work if not there if some vids on youtube for upgradeing ur hard drive you could watch them and get the info for a new hard drive

Used laptop hard drive in a playstation 3
Forget trying to have both things on the one drive, it's a non-starter. I believe the PS3 formats it itself, and it's not exactly the place to be putting your system files at risk. Hard drives are CHEAP! Get another one. It should match the PS3's original HDD specifications for current (Amps) used and RPM (5400 I believe). Otherwise you're likely to have problems with heat and reliability.

If you keep on getting this problem you will need to send it in to get it fixed, or you can actually readjust the laser from home.

Yes, you can. And Sony lets you officially do that. Just for that it has a slot on the side. You just need to remove the screw and pull out the HDD. You can then replace it with any capacity 2.5" HDD also popularly known as laptop hard drives.

u have to beleve me on this one it works
1)u wont like this delete your hard drive
2)remove hard drive from PS3
3)put hard drive in freezer for 30 mins
4)it will work unless theres a more severe problem
5)do not do this unless warenty is expiered then lust use warenty to get a new one

it might be because it's formatted in NTFS, the PS3 will only recognize FAT32.So please format it to fat32
