Developer what is different between a toner and a developer?

You can't stop it. It sounds like you used the wrong toner and now its mixed with the developer powered causing excess toner. check the developer unit. When you REFILL toner you need to make sure it the right toner. toner has different melt points and components. Toner gets in the developing assembly toner sensor (TS1) and may be shorting out the sensor. Blow out any toner in the sensor wiring and check to see if measure resolved the symptom. The toner level sensor has an open-circuit, replace the toner sensor.

However, re-attachment of the sensor also solves the symptom.

When the symptom has occurred, make the following selections in service mode [COPIER > I/O > DC-CON] and check the setting for the bit1 of [P021]. If the setting is "1", re-attach the toner sensor.

One problem found has been the toner sensor scraper blade in the developer not making contact with the surface of the toner sensor.
To check the toner sensor scraper blade first set up a work area. Lay out several sheets of 11 x17 paper on the work surface. Disassembling the developer is a messy job. Remove the upper cover of the developer and then rotate the developer in a counter clock wise direction. Basically the cylinder should rotate so the toner is scraped off of the cylinder by the developer blade.
If it is rotated in the wrong direction a large amount of toner will adhere to the developer cylinder and makes a mess.
The toner sensor is located on the on the outside of the developer and part of it goes through the wall of the developer unit.

Next look at the inside surface of the developer where the toner sensor is mounted while rotating the developer cylinder in the correct direction. There is a mylar scraper sheet that needs to touch the inside surface of the developer wall. In the image below the inside surface of the developer wall is being touched by the mylar scraper blade. If the blade is damaged or broken off the toner will not be cleaned off of the sensor and give the error code E024. If the blade is the problem the developer will need to be replaced.

Starter and Developer are eccentially the same thing or perform the same function. Starter is just a term typically used by Minolta and machines manufactured by Minolta. Starter/Developer is simply a component that acts as the carrier for the toner. Toner has no real magnetic properties so in some machines you need a way of getting the toner up to the drum surface. These machines use a magnetic roller and developer to perform this function. The Developer is like a metal powder that the toner mixes with. As it flows around the magnetic roller it carries the toner with it. Then an electrostatic charge on the surface of the drum "attracts" the toner away from the developer roller and onto the drum. That is a simplified answer to your question.

The developer is not a toner. It goes in the developer unit, it is installed by a service rep. You need to empty out the used developer & install the new bag of developer & rest the counter & set the developer up to add toner when needed. To make a long story on developer short > it is made up of iron filings & it holds the toner on the developer make roller to make a even coat of toner on your paper... Good Luck..... Toner provides the color, Developer consists of magnetic particles that carry the color on the outside of the developer drum, which is magnetic. Some developer is lost on each copy, although most stays in the developer unit. When you run low on developer, your image gets lighter and lighter, until the machine reports an error because it can no longer self calibrate. One change of developer suffices for many changes of toner. There is a procedure involving various actions and codes to flush the developer material out and load new developer in. This is not difficult, but there are a couple of reasons you might not want to do it if you are unsure why or if you should. First, developer for these estudio copiers, is very expensive. Second, unless you know how many copies have been made on the existing developer, you might change the developer, and fail to correct the problem. There are related service items, involving the cleaning blades, and seals, servicing charging grids, corona wire, and general cleaning of the 4 developer units and opc drums. does not follow to do the repeated installation of developer. If you doing the installation, they will be different from factory. Minolta itself is determined concentration of the toner and after a certain time will stop the miks. Simply backfilling new portion developer and set the bank up with toner. Include the device. When the developer is the same the toner is the same.The toner drops in to the developer,thus the toner must be the same.They just package it different to be a pain!

Generally this printer can be separate into 4 major part: Printer body, Toner container, Developer unit and Drum unit. The developer unit is the unit where the toner container "mount" on it and it should be removed to allow cleaning task every time the toner container is replaced.
U may get this error message if the developer unit is not install properly after u replace a new toner container. Just lift the developer unit together with the toner container out of the printer and then insert back properly into the machine.
