Samsung SyncMaster 910T 19" LCD Monitor Logo

My Samsung Sync Master 910r keeps flashing "not optimum mode Recommended Mode 1280*1024 60Hz" I have had other monitors connected to this PC and The other PC as well without this error message. How do I fix this? I can't even access my desktop to change the settings?

Hello. That message appears when the video signal from the computer exceeds the monitor's ability to display it. If the sync is set too high(i.e. max sync on the monitor is 60 Hertz at that resolution), you will get that message. Check the video settings in control panel--("appearance and themes" in XP), go to the "advanced" tab and look at the refresh rate. Most computer video cards are able to far exceed a monitor's display ability. Don't exceed 60 Hertz--check the users guide for specs--the lower resolutions can have higher refresh rates(useful in games) Sometimes, a little lower video quality can yield a big performance difference in the display because the screen can update itself faster. (I use a radio control flight simulator pgm that is heavy on video ability).---Hope I was of assistance!---Rick

Make sure you also set the refresh frequency to 60Hz as suggested. You don't specify what system are you using, but it can generally be found in advanced display preferences under Monitor.

My computer is on but all I see on the monitor is a floating box with the message "Not Optimum Mode Recommended Mode: 1280X1024 60Hz.

Try connect a different monitor on your computer and change the resolution to 1280x1024. After that, replug the new monitor and it should work.

Not optimum mode recommended mode 1024 x 768 60hz

Hook up a different monitor and set resolution to no higher than 1024 x 768. Samsung monitor will then work fine. It appears that something fails in the monitor and it will no longer support anything higher than this.
