Hello,
The problem is one(or more) of the 6 switches that turn on the spark when that burner is turned on is shorted and stays closed (on) all the time.To determine which one it is the front face has to be removed, with THE POWER OFF a meter set to low ohms rating is used to check each switch by removing the wires to it and see which one has continunity (ZERO OHMS) when its off and that switch that slips on the burner valve shaft is the bad switch(s) and needs to be replaced to keep it from sparking all the time.
Please note though, in a perfectly working cooktop all burners spaks at the same time and only the only one that has the gas flowing to it will ignite, that part is normal.

I hope this helps you to repair your cooktop,
Gene

Two of my burners are clicking even when the stove is off. what should I do?

There is a switch that slides onto the shaft for each burner. When you turn the knob to a certain area it completes the circuit to the ignitor module. It sounds like you have a shorted switch. Unfortunately with most 'cooktops', these are not easy to get to.

It's also strange that only 2 are igniting, usually one module runs all the ignitors. When you turn one of the non-problem burners on, does it click when it supposed to and stop when it's supposed to?

The ignitors running constantly is annoying and may damage the module, but should not be dangerous unless you have other issues, ie., fuel leaks.

If you have access to basic hand tools and a multimeter I can walk you through the diagnosis.

Viking cooktop gas unit ignition clicks on all burners when I use

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

Viking stove ignitor

the continues to click problem, for e it was only when my smaller burner was lit. theo others were ok. When I took the burner apart it was very dirty. I cleaned it up (a wire brush in my drill press) and it works fine now. I think it was just bad electrical conduction.

Clicking noise on cooktop even when all burners ignite

I have a viking gas cooktop. The ignitor on one of my front burners wouldn't stop clicking even after the flame ignited. I swapped that ignitor with the ignitor from a back burner, expecting that the problem was with the ignitor and that the back burner would start to click incessantly, but at least I'd have my favorite front burner for use. Instead, the front burner was then only clicking 50% of the time and the back burner was fine, suggesting the problem was related to the burner not the ignitor. I pulled the front ignitor a bit away from the burner and now it is working normally. Hope this helps.
