I cant finish installing a Smartlink V.92 56k modem on Windows XP

I used the windows hardware detection wizard with the drivers disc in the CD-ROM and it installs the modem but than it recognizes an ethernet controller and multimedia audio device but wont install the drivers for them. In the device manager menu it shows yellow exclamation marks next to both under other devices but the modem doesn't work I've tried others and had the same problem so I know they are functional but I can't get them online

Cant connect to internet using edge modem

If the modem came with a disc, run it, the drivers are probably missing. If you don't have a disk then you need to go to your control panel, go to add hardware, look for any icons that have yellow questions marks on it, fix it and your good to go. Or you may need to renew your IP address. Without an address you can't go online. Hope this helps.

    Good Luck =)

    Modem Driver

To download the most appropriate modem driver for your Windows XP computer, a few steps is indispensible to finish the whole process.

    Step 1
Look at the modem. Write down the make and model. If you have a dial-up modem in your computer, take the panel on the tower off. Shine the flashlight on the device. On the circuit board, the manufacturer and/or model number is present.

    Step 2
Locate an Internet connection. To download Windows XP modem drivers, go to the library or someone's home where the Internet is able to connect. If you have another working modem in your house, you can download them directly to your computer.

    Step 3
Go to the manufacturer's official website or a Windows XP modem driver's web page. Windows XP Drivers, Drivers Kit and Driver Support Registry have modem drivers for the Windows XP operating system.

    Step 4
Click on the modem device. Select the manufacturer of the modem. Some of the driver sites are XP only, while others are all drivers. You will have the chance to choose your operating system before downloading. Click on the "Download" tab. Wait approximately 10 minutes, depending on the speed of the PC and Internet connection.

    Step 5
Burn it to a disk. If you are at another location, you need to burn to CD/DVD for transportation.

Don't run the setup program. Instead reboot your computer and use the windows add hardware wizard to install the drivers from the CD. The windows hardware wizard will detect several different devices, allow it to install them all from the CD.
