SOURCE: Viewsonic monitor VG2021m won't awaken
I understand the vg2021m has a 3 year warranty. Phone number for Product Support is (800) 688-6688. Give 'em a call and see if they won't fix it for free or some nominal charge. (OK! So this is the cowards way out.)

SOURCE: Monitor has a hard time starting up
replace the "keyboard board" and the "power inverter board" (both boards)....
SOURCE: Monitor Goes black, or flickers on and off
The high pitch sound is coming from the inverter. It is faulty and needs to be repaired or replaced. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp, this lamp gives the backlight to the LCD so you can see the LCD images.

SOURCE: My ViewsonicVP930b Monitor Suddenly Turns Off
This is a classic VP930 problem.
It is caused by bad capacitors in the power supply circuit.
Open the monitor, and look at the power board. There are six
capacitors. Replace the 220uF @ 25V and the 1000uF @ 16V capacitors. I
would recommend replacing them with 35V and 25V capacitors respectively.
If the serial number on your monitor starts with Q8H you could also
have a bad IC on the main board. Q8 on the main board is an FET in an
IC package. If this problem persists solder a wire from the right side
to the left side. There is one pin that turns the IC on and off. All
the other pins (per side) are soldered together. Do not solder the pin
on the left side that is by itself. Just leave it. Solder ALL the other
pins on the left to ALL the other pins on the right.
Remember, do this ONLY if the problem persists after replacing the capacitors AND if your serial number starts with Q8H.
Sleep mode on a Windows 7 PC saves power without you having to turn your computer off and without losing any work.
This option cuts the power to your monitor, powers down the hard drive and pauses all functions until you awaken the computer from hibernation.
Whether you have a laptop, desktop or workstation, putting your computer into sleep mode will lower your electric bill and save money!
Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop. In the lower right corner of the Start menu, next to the "Shut Down" button, is a button labeled with a small, right-pointing arrow. Mouse over the arrow.
The Shut Down menu appears.
Point at "Sleep" and click on this option.
Your Windows 7 computer goes into sleep mode.
Wake your computer from sleep mode by jiggling the mouse.
There may be a delay of a few seconds before your hardware powers on.
All of your open programs are still open and your work is intact, just as you left it before the computer entered sleep mode.
Configure your Windows 7 PC to go into sleep mode automatically when it is not used for a certain amount of time.
Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security."
Click "Power Options."
A menu opens.
Click on "Choose when the computer sleeps" and select the number of minutes of inactivity. You can also set a separate time interval to put your monitor into sleep mode.
If you set both to 10 minutes, then your PC and monitor will automatically go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity
