Canon Printer - Pixma 5000 Trying to print out pages of text. The text is coming out with a line printing normally - then a block of text / lines missing completely - then tops of line or bottom of line missing / cleanly cut off horizontally - then a line printing normally. Ink flow is okay [no smudges or fading etc] and have just given the print head a bit of a clean. Help! Many Thanks j

CANON IP 4300 PRINTERS WILL ONLY PRINT ALTERNATE LINES

I think your text document didn't fit the page. I have done that before. It overruns and the extra becomes the lines inbetween. To fix this use microsoft publisher to print it so that you can choose the paper size and the borders and fit the document within the space allowed.

A faint line shows up down the middle of the page, when printing a photo

from cnet review of the product

  • Unfortunately, as with the Z1420, fast print speeds come at the cost of print quality with the Z1300. Black text prints, though nicely dark, were beset by obvious jaggedness. The color graphics print had a slightly faded look to it and color blocks showed graininess and faint horizontal striations. Barcode-style patterns were muddled, too. For our tests, we printed color 4x6 photos with the standard black and tricolor cartridges, as Lexmark did not include photo ink tanks with the test unit. The colors were dull, details were hazy, and again, the entire print was marred by graininess and faint horizontal lines. That said, nobody buys a $25 printer to print photos for framing or to create displays for a classroom science project. A $25 printer is a convenience item for occasional reference prints, and as such, the Z1300 does its job.

Prints a page and random lines have a line running across

I had a problem similar to this where it would print 7/16" horizontal band blank and then a 7/16" horizontal band correctly. This problem occured systematically when printing text.
Called Canon support after a great deal of searching around on the web and they shipped me a new printhead. Problem solved.
If your printer is anywhere near a year or less old call them up and explain the problem. They were very helpful.

Blure text

three options to be checkout. 1)the cartridge ink is near to empty.if this is the case  get your cartridge refilled or replace it with new. 2)the head unit in which the cartridges r installed.in that head the holes from where the ink comes out may be blocked so it needs cleaning manually by removing the head. 3)or the third option the printout is set on draft mode .if this is the case go to printer properties and change that draft setting to normal mode printing.
