This washer is a single belt driven model that uses a thrust washer system to release the brake when the motor reverses. In wash mode a 200# spring locks the tub place while the transmission agitates the clothes. The pump cannot remove the water in this direction. In spin mode the the brake is released and the water gets pumped out. Here is a great pictorial that shows how to replace the kit along with a Maytag single belt washer service manual.
I WISH I HAD SOME ANSWERS ON THIS ONE, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PUMP MIGHT NEED REPLACING. HOW OLD IS YOUR WASHER? IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW WASHER. BUT IF IT IS THE PUMP, THEN YOU CAN BUY A NEW PUMP FROM WHERE YOU BOUGHT YOUR WASHER. GOOD LUCK.

The two possibilities of which come to mind are, something in pump slowing the water outlet, belt loose or needing replacement. Sometimes an article gets over the barrell and sucked into the pump still allowing some water to pass by, but the belt needing to be replaced would prably be my first check. both need Power disconnect then cabinet panel pulled to view both the pump and belt
