Hi patsue,

To charge your GoGear mp3 player without your computer, you will need a universal USB charger as well as a mini-USB cable (which connects to the mp3 player and to the USB charger). These can be purchased at the Philips Online Store:

Hope this helps. If so, let me know by rating this solution.

Charging my juke with a usb cord

Fully charge the battery to maximize playing time. However, it is not necessary to fully charge or completely discharge the battery each time. You can charge the battery by connecting the jukebox either to the AC power adapter (fastest) or to a USB port on the computer. The battery icon in the upper right corner of the screen indicates the remaining battery charge.
  1. Connect the USB combo cable to the AC power adapter, and then plug the power adapter into an AC power outlet. Or, you can connect the USB combo cable to a USB port on the computer.
  2. Plug the combo cable into the jukebox. Make sure that the top of the plug (the side with the arrows) is facing the same direction as the front of the jukebox.
    View Picture
  3. If you are charging your jukebox from the computer's USB cable, turn your jukebox off. If your jukebox is on, it cannot charge from the computer's USB cable. Note: If you are charging your jukebox from the AC power adapter, you can leave your jukebox on as it charges, but it will take longer to charge.

  4. If the jukebox is on, the power cord icon appears in the upper right corner of the display. The keypad's backlight turns on while the battery charges, and then turns off when the battery is fully charged.
  5. When your jukebox battery is finished charging, pinch the two side buttons on the plug, and then pull the plug out of the jukebox.

How to Recalibrate a battery

SYMPTOMS- Short discharges and recharges do not fully synchronize the battery's fuel gauge with the battery's state-of-charge. This can result in the amount of power available in one cycle being less than expected or the battery meter being inaccurate.
Under normal usage, batteries should be calibrated a minimum of once every 3 months. Your battery can be calibrated by following these steps:

I - Disable the Windows Power Management

1. In Windows, right-click the Desktop and select Properties in the menu list.
2. Click the Screen Saver tab and then click the Power button.
3. Under Power schemes, select Always On in the drop down menu.
4. Under Settings for Always On power scheme, select Never in each of the drop down menus.
5. Click OK on the Power Options Properties window and then click OK on the Display Properties window.

II - Fully charge the battery

1. Connect the AC adapter to the notebook.
2. Charge the battery until the Windows battery meter is at 100%.

III - Fully discharge the battery

1. Remove the AC adapter.
2. Keep the notebook on until the battery has completely drained and the notebook automatically turns off.
3. Connect the AC adapter to the notebook.
4. Keep the AC adapter connected to the notebook until the battery has completely charged.

IV - Enable the Windows Power Management

1. In Windows, right-click the Desktop and select Properties in the menu list.
2. Click the Screen Saver tab and then click the Power button.
3. Under Power schemes, select Portable/Laptop in the drop down menu.
4. Click OK on the Power Options Properties window and then click OK on the Display Properties window.

My lenovo G550 appears not to charge when the charger is plugged in despite turning the mains power on and off to see if power is getting though and the blue neon light showing on the mains...

Hi m529,

I see you are having issues with you G550 charging.

You mentioned that the light on the charger is lit up but then it suddenly switches Off, and you also mentioned that the charge still has a light but the power is somewhat low despite of a fully lit up charger Light.

Have you tried draining the power from the system?

  • Remove the battery and the Charger or AC Adapter as well call it from the G550 then press and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds to drain power from the system motherboard.
  • Once drained connect the AC adapter but do not connect the battery yet, then turn the Laptop ON to see if the system will power ON using the AC adapter/Charger if it powers up then there is no problem with the AC adapter/charger.
  • After testing the AC adapter if it is working power down the Laptop doing a normal shut down.
  • Once shut down or turned Off insert the Battery back in the Laptop then turn the Laptop ON using the battery only without the AC adapter/charger see if the system will turn ON using the Battery only.
  • If the Laptop powers On using the battery alone with out the AC adapter then the battery is most likely working as well on the issue.
  • Now power down the Laptop then connect the AC adapter to the Laptop with the Battery in the Laptop as well then turn the system ON again see if the problem will Occur again having the battery and the AC adapter/charger if the Problem happens with both Battery and AC adapter on the Laptop then the problem is the Motherboard, most probably the motherboard is having issues relaying power from the AC adapter to the battery and may be sent to the Depot for repairs.
I suggest that you call Lenovo for further information about your system, if you still have warranty and is still in the one year period then your system will be covered for any repairs needed - you can call @ 1 877 453 6686 for troubleshooting, you will be asked for a serial number Located underneath the Laptop on a small white sticker that states s/n meaning serial number.

I hope that this Helps.

Have a nice day,

Computer will not turn on. Battery is fully charged.

this is how i did one the other day and it booted right up, do not turn your laptop on, remove the battery and do not have your ac adapter plugged up to the computer, after you have took the battery out and unplugged the power cord, hold the power button down for 10 seconds, this releases all internal power from the motherboard, after this step is completed do not put your battery back in, plug your ac adapter up to your computer and push the power button and it should boot up. The Hp DV series computers have a recall on alot of the batteries, so you might want to look that up on the HP website.

MYFI XM2GO WILL NOT TURN ON. ALSO WHEN I PUT IN CRADLE WILL NOT SHOW CHARGING

I had the same problem. This procedure from the "Technical Questions" section of http://shopdelphi.com/consumers/support/faqs/myfi/ worked for me:
"My MyFi won't power up, how do I reset it?
To reset your MyFi, start by turning the receiver off and removing it from its (car, home, audio system) cradle. Then remove the back cover and battery. Using a small paperclip, press the reset button located on the top left corner of the battery compartment. Now plug the AC power adapter into a wall outlet and plug the power port directly into the bottom of the MyFi (battery stays removed). Wait 10 seconds and listen for a beep. After you hear the beep the message "insert battery" will appear. Cycle the MyFi to ensure it powers up and powers down. If the power cycle is normal, then turn off the MyFi, unplug the power adapter, and reinstall the battery. Re-plug the AC power adapter directly into the bottom of the MyFi. Wait 10 seconds and listen for a beep. After the beep you will see the message "battery charging". Leave the MyFi plugged in until it's fully charged. You will see the message "charging complete" displayed. After the MyFi is fully charged, turn it on and reset to the factory defaults. Unplug the MyFi from the AC power adapter and using the battery power leave it on until it fully discharges (approximately 2-5 hours). Plug the MyFi in using the AC power adapter to recharge the unit and resume normal use. If you need help at any point during this process contact us at 1-877-463-3574 for technical support."

I hope it works for you too.

Green battery light on the archos 5 but when i disconnect it from dock or usb no green lights abd completely dead - won't switch on either in dock or out???

Power green LED light should come on, CHG green LED light should also come on showing the battery is being charged. Leave your unit in Suspend mode while charging it, DO NOT turn it completely off as "Shutting Down.." because it will not charge your battery.

I just purchased an almost new Archos 5 on eBay recently, and the first day I had it, happened to me that I left the unit off and charging on the Mini Dock with external AC power supply, after 13-14 hours the CHG light still wasn't blinking. Then I though maybe I have to leave the unit in Suspend mode rather than completely off, which I did, and in a matter of 3 hours it fully charged the battery.

Again, do not shut down completely the unit, leave it on Suspended mode, or even on, and connected it to your mini dock, after a while the screen will go blank the unit will go into Suspended mode by itself, and after 3 hours on external power supply or 8 hours via USB on PC should be completely charged and your CHG light should be blinking, indicating the battery is charged.

I hope this helped.

Won't hold charge

Dear Iblaze1136, Fri 2-20-2009 8:22pm EST (USA)

Batteries must be charged completely when they are new or they will never hold a charge right!
I'm assuming you never fully charged them when new and so they will never hold much of a charge!
The Solution is to replace the battery or batteries and charge properly (overnight or at least 8hrs).
I recommend Radio Shack for this!

Shut Down

Is the ac adapter plug into the power outlet with the battery in or are you just using your battery to boot up ? Try to just use the ac adapter without the battery to see if it still shuts down.

Your battery may not be charging enough but to be sure charge it fully by making sure the AC Adapter are securely snug to the power jack of the laptop and to the power outlet and not turning your computer for at least half a day. Check to see battery contacts are clean. Check to see if charging led blinks. Also make sure battery latch locks tight when putting it in.
