I am using the LifeCam HD-6000 with a visual Basic program. (I am doing research for the Open University on road surfaces). I had hoped to be able to take advantage of the TrueColor software... is it possible to invoke the "dashboard" seperately from the main LifeCam program? Then I could adjust the settings to get maximum benefit from the webcam. Thanks.

You can download the driver here :- http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/236296/microsoft-lifecam-nx-6000-vx-1000-vx-3000-vx-6000-driver-1.21-windows-xp-free-download.html
the camera has a built in microphone,so after a proper installation you should have the video and mic funtioning.
but in your case, the cam doesn't work, so you have to try first uninstall the driver >> unplug the camera USB port >> then make a restart >> plud the camera back into the usb >> and install the drivers again.

SOURCE: I cannot adjust the audio on lifecam vx 3000.

Normal 0 See section C. Windows Live Messenger in the info below to setup the Audio & Video.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/Bud )

  1. Log on to SKYPE and do the following.
  2. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  3. Then click on the Video Settings.
  4. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  5. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
C. Windows Live Messenger: Go to this site http://download.live.com/?sku=messengerBud and download Windows Live Messenger.
  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

SOURCE: Microsoft Lifecam / Using a different microphone

Im not sure I understood exactly the issue but the solutions are more than one ...
you may just uninstall the web cam ...and set the mic you want to use and after that reinstall the web cam ...and you have every chances to be installed and the external mic to remain in use..
or ...to use the mic from the external pink entry of the pc ...just select it from the sound driver ...options..
in your capture program you might also have the choice for which mic to use ....
in your yahoo messenger for example you have this choice on preferences /audio device....
you also may find on your control panel ...sound and audio device /audio../and for the sound recording audio device ...select the one you want...
good luck !

Hi. I have a Toshiba Satellite L25-S119 laptop. I just bought a Microsoft Lifecam HD-6000. However, when the Microsoft Lifecam application launches I get an error message -> lifecam.exe has...

The first thing to try would be to right-click on lifecam.exe and run it as administrator. If that does not resolve the problem. Then open Device manager. Start->Run-> In the run box type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter. See if the camera has been detected under imaging devices and let me know

My lifecam hd 6000 will work and then it will get blurry for a few seconds and refocus. how do i get it to just focus and not get blurry? its really annoying

When you pull up Microsoft Lifecam you go to Settings then Properties. There you'll see under the tab Camera Control there will be the text "Auto" and under it will have a box with a check mark in it. What you need to do is uncheck that box then click OK. After that it shouldn't autofocus anymore. I hope this helps :)

Lifecam VX-6000

Uninstall the Microsoft LifeCam and disconnect your camera.
Go to this site: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/435/241&cl=us,en

Download the software for the QuickCam Ultra Vision 5. Save to your hard disk and then run the program.
Reinstall the LifeCam software and then plug in the camera. LifeCam will use the Logitech Drivers and your camera should work fine.
