F2-02 error code on Sharp AR-M350/450 and 355/455 Copiers

Here are some general steps you can try to resolve the problem:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the replacement toner cartridges are compatible with your copier model. Using incorrect or incompatible cartridges can cause recognition issues.
2. Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the copier and remove the toner cartridge. Check the metal contacts on both the cartridge and the copier where they make contact. If they appear dirty or covered in toner residue, gently clean them with a soft, lint-free cloth.
3. Reinstall the Cartridge: Make sure the toner cartridge is installed correctly and securely in its designated slot. Ensure that it clicks into place.
4. Power Cycle the Copier: Turn off the copier and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a minute or two before plugging it back in and turning it on. This power cycle can sometimes reset the copier's internal settings and resolve recognition issues.
5. Update Firmware/Software: Check if there are any firmware updates or software patches available for your copier model. Installing the latest updates might fix known issues.

Checking the toner cartridge
Image formation defects are many times the result of problems in the toner cartridge. If there is any doubt, always replace the toner cartridge before troubleshooting image defects.
Use the following checklist to make sure that the toner cartridge is still operable.
" Make sure that the toner cartridge is seated properly.
" Inspect the toner cartridge for toner level.
" Check the expiration date stamped on the toner cartridge box.
" Check the toner cartridge to see if it has been disassembled or refilled.
" Inspect the toner cartridge to see if toner is leaking through worn seals.
" Check the surface of the photosensitive drum in the cartridge to see if it has been damaged or scratched. Touching the drum contaminates the photosensitive surface and can cause spotting
and image defects.
" Blurred areas on printed pages indicate that the photosensitive drum in the cartridge has been overexposed to light. Because overexposure to light causes permanent damage to the photosensitive drum, the cartridge should be replaced.
Note A toner cartridge weighs approximately 863 grams (30.5 oz) when it is full, approximately 766 grams (27.0 oz) when it first fades, and approximately 742 grams (26.2 oz) when it is empty.

To redistribute toner in the cartridge
Before installing a new cartridge or when toner begins to run low, redistribute the toner by rotating the cartridge back and forth five or six times.

replace cartridge with new one

That is normall a defective developer unit chip, you may have to replace the chip on the developer unit or the developer unit itself.

A couple of suggestions. 1. make sure there is not any plastic shipping tabs that need to be removed from the cartridge. 2. try reseating the cartridge. 3. Try replacing that cyan cartridge. It may be defective. Also make sure you use Minolta brand toners!
