Tip & How-To about Washing Machines
The fix for this is very simple. But you are not alone here this is a common problem so I decided to write a tip about this to help people solve this before posting a question or possibly a having to pay for a service call, for something that can very easily be fixed by themselves.
If the water is going right through your washing machine, then, either one of two things is happening. Either the hose is not going up high enough before it goes back down into the pipe, or the hose end is stuck into the water in the pipe and the result is that the water then can siphon out.
First thing to check is that the hose is going up to a point at least as high as the top of your washing machine before it turns and goes back down into the washer.
Next, check that the water level in the pipe is not backed up so that the end of the pipe is in the water. There needs to be an air gap so that you break the vacuum on the hose after the washing machine is done pumping out. If this does not happen the water going in will just get siphoned right out again...
Checking these two things will solve your problem and you will be happy and washing again!! Hopefully this will save you some aggravation and possibly some money by not having to call for service on a very simple problem. Now, as a service person, I really do not mind these types of calls, but I do hate to charge people for fixing something this simple.
