Tip & How-To about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

Slow Speed due to router

Hi there,
I had a problem, my internet was working slow on wireless and when connected with wire it use to fly like anything.
What i found from reading alot if that often people think that there router is conduction some problem after few years of usage and the signals are not omitting correctly or something.
However I got a simple solution for you all I found that the internet was absolutely fine when connected with wire.
So after doing alot of other activities i found that the FIREWALL was turned on, on both the devices i.e. My ROUTER and my DSL MODEM.
So please keep in mind usually there is not problem with the Router or the DSL modem if you feel the internet is slow please check your firewall and simply turn one firewall on either it should be routers or dsl modem.
Well this helped me and now i get good speed.
If there is anything i can help you with please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you :)

hi. just got cable internet (Comcast) and am

that's normal, wireless is normally between 1/4 and 1/2 the speed of your wired connection. normally the router gives priority to wired devices, but this should not cause you any further slow down unless you have wired devices plugged in at the same time you are using wireless. this can be changed from your router's admin page.

wrt150n dd-wrt firmware slow loading pages

First off thanks for using fixya.com

Second, I too am a dd-wrt user and found a similar problem when using dd-wrt with my IPCOP. You may want to go into the "Security" section of your dd-wrt and disable any fire walling or access-restrictions. Since you are already running zonealarm. Or remove zonealarm if you plan to use dd-wrt as your firewall.

Running multiple firewalls will slow down your network/Internet traffic.

Hope this helps you out.

Internet runs slow or freezes on my wired desktop when I use the internet on my wireless laptop.

Hi tech_newbie.... Need a little more info... how is your wireless connected.. ethernet /Usb... or true wireless... and vice versa for desktop. where is your wireless router situated... what times are you experiencing the slow connection!

In addition.. first try running a good Spyware/ adaware programme such as Spybot.. and alongside side another programme called... a-square.. and with AVG.. all of which are free... see links below..

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Try this first.. they are all pretty good programmes when used in conjunction with each other, you;ll be surorised at what you find.... Get back to me if this does not eliminate your problem
