Tip & How-To about ASUS Eee PC 1000H Laptop

Get an EEEPC to start up when it won't power on.

A common problem with Atom based netbooks is with their power management hardware. This hardware allows the computer to be automatically overclocked / de-clocked when you plug it in or unplug it and when you manually change it. Sometimes, through use of third party software or otherwise, this will get set too high or too how, or just with a completely useless configuration, and won't be able to boot.

The simple fix to this is to unplug your laptop from the power supply, pull out the battery and press and hold the power button for ten seconds, then put the battery back in and try to turn it on. Hopefully this has solved your problem, and anybody who was using third party overclocking software on their EEE will now know better :).

i can't find my built in web cam on my start menu its like it is no longer in my computer, how can i find it?

First try to check if your system is detecting the hardware, go to Device Manager and check if there are installed drivers under "imaging devices". if none, check if there are yellow marks under unknown devices.
thanks

i want to enhance my hp mini in order for me to be able to play pes 2010 and other games

Try setting the resolution and other settings of the games very low and it might work.
I wouldn't expect too much of the ability of a netbook to play games, seeing as the processor (Intel Atom) isn't very powerful.. Not to mention the graphic processor. The hardware just isn't powerful enough to play recent games.

battery won't hold charge. netbook only a few months old.

f the notebook battery is not charging or the notebook does not indicate that the battery is charging, the most likely scenario is that the battery itself is operating correctly, but its power management software may have become corrupt. In order to correct the problem, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the power management software by using the Device Manager. This document will explain how to uninstall and reinstall the ACPI Battery listings in Windows Vista, as well as how to obtain and install updated BIOS files, if needed to correct other battery issues. Uninstalling and reinstalling power management software in Windows Vista In order to correct problems with the battery's power management software, follow the steps below.
  1. Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager .
  2. Expand the Batteries category.
  3. Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall . WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.
  4. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes c01176420.gif . Alternately, select Action > Scan for hardware changes .
Windows will scan your computer for hardware that doesn't have drivers installed, and will install the drivers needed to manage your battery's power. The notebook should now indicate that the battery is charging.

you have gotten stuck at other power levels, so trying powering it down with AC adapater and battery in, remove battery and then put in back in, see if charge light will come on steady.
