Tip & How-To about Denon Reciever Dra-345r

DENON DRA-345R Memory Loss/Reset issues FIX

My 24 OLD Denon Receiver showed Radio Frequency settings Memory Loss, Power UP reset issues, loss of selected inputs. After reviewing the schematic I found a gold cap (big yellow ELKO) that is responsible of keeping uC Vdd under steady Voltage to keep all settings. According original spec it should keep all data 1 month minimum. I do not know if the issue is that the leakage current has increased somewhere, or that the capacitor lost its capacity. It concerns C643 8.2mF capacitor, near IC605 and D605. I replaced the capacitor with a PANASONIC EECS5R5V155 1.5F capacitor. WIth this capacitor it does not matter if the problem is caused by leakage current, as the 1.5F is >100x more capacity. The first time when the cap needs to be charged, the unit responded little strange, but since 2nd power up this problem is fully solved. The PANASONIC device fits excellent on the C643 position, no bending of wires needed.

BTW, compliments to DENON, the original components are soldered with low amount of solder, easy to remove with manual vacuum solder remover(don't know the UK word for it), so no baking, simply remove solder, take out component, place new one.

Unit is now working again as new.

Regards and success with the repair

PS: I found the component at tme.eu

Standby light stays on after blinking , stays power up but no sound

The issue you're experiencing with your Denon receiver AVR-1700 may be due to a few reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try:
  1. Check the connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected to the receiver and the speakers. Make sure that the input source is selected correctly on the receiver, and the volume is turned up.
  2. Reset the receiver: Sometimes, resetting the receiver can resolve issues with the sound. To reset the Denon AVR-1700, turn off the power, and unplug the power cord for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, plug the power cord back in and turn on the power.
  3. Check the speaker settings: Ensure that the speaker settings are configured correctly on the receiver. Check that the speaker wires are connected properly to the receiver and the speakers. Make sure that the speakers are not damaged or blown.
  4. Check for firmware updates: Make sure that the receiver is running the latest firmware. Visit the Denon website to check if any firmware updates are available for your model.
  5. Check for hardware issues: If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue with the receiver. In this case, you may want to contact Denon customer support or take the receiver to a professional repair shop for further assistance.
Hopefully, one of these solutions will help you resolve the issue with your Denon receiver AVR-1700.

how to reset denon s 301receiver?

Instructions
  1. How to Reset Denon Receivers
    • 1 Save the information currently stored in your Denon receiver, such as device commands and multi-zone controls. Some Denon receivers can control multiple rooms and each room needs to be setup properly to provide the correct controls. If the receiver was installed professionally it may be best to contact the installer before resetting the device.
    • 2 Press the "Power" button or the "On/ Standby" button to shut off the receiver. On some receivers it is best to press the button on the device instead of the remote as the remote will normally put the receiver in standby mode. Ensure the display and all other lights on the device are off. Do not unplug the Denon receiver as it will not reset.
    • 3 Press the "Power" button and at the same time press two buttons on the front panel, which are determined by the model Denon you own. Most receivers identify the two buttons inside the user's manual, while some older Denon receivers require you contact Denon for the right button combination. For example, some Denon models require the "Standard" and "DSP Simulation" buttons to be pressed simultaneously.
    • 4 The display will start flashing at about one second intervals. Release the two buttons. Turn on the receiver by pressing the "Power" or the "On/ Standby" button to verify the previous settings and saved radio stations have been erased. If the interface does not flash, the reset was not complete and needs to be re-done. Re-enter the previous settings to ensure there are no further issues with the receiver.

Loss of sound on the Denon AVR 2807 a/v surround receiver when I turn on and off lights in my house

Finally the problem was with the HDMI cable. When I pushed it in on the TV set the problem disappeared. It seems the connections must be quite firm on the HDMI cables otherwise anything may interfere to the sound.
