Tip & How-To about Samsung Dishwashers
Our 13 month and very expensive Samsung dishwasher model DW80F800UWS stopped working and displayed error code 5E or SE if you don\'t know they all start with a number (which I did not). After 2 weeks of pain with "repair man" an fixed it myself and I wanted to share my success story.
This dishwasher uses an optical sensor to detect how much water is in the tub body. Older dishwashers use a simple float but Samsung had issues with these sticking open so they must have switched to the solid state sensor at some point. Believe it or not if the sensor gets dirty with gunk from food the sensor false reads that there is still water in the tub and shuts down with error code 5E. The sensor is removed from the right side access panel (when looking at the machine from the front. Its a small round clear plastic sensor held in with black plastic clip. Take it out and clean off the gunk. Re-install and wham bam thank you mam!! Your wife will think your a genius!! total cost of repair is Zero...yes that right ZERO!
Part number for this sensor is DD32-00003A and you can use the Sears website to see the diagram and location. Here is the link

I wish I would have done my homework first as I had a failed service call before I fixed it myself! Cost me some money I hope others can avoid!
