How to keep your Dishwasher and Washing machine running well.

Did you replace the thermostat as well? That could be your problem. Also make sure your radiator and reservoir are full.

You are probably using to much detergent. I would clean it up and cycle a LITTLE amount of bleach through it. Then I would use vinegar on a few loads instead of DW soap. See if this clears it up at all. Then use only small amount of DW soap.

I have a Bravos set myself. Many a time I hear this problem happening with people who "HAVE JUST CLEANED" their washer. This is a very common problem. Many times it is obvious with amount of soap or inefficiency of soap with the type of machine they have But it can be an alternate problem. First I would suggest running a very hot cycle through with some bleach with water softener on the longest "time" cycle there is. That should kill any bacteria (if any)

There are normally two types of common issues: Black Slime or Pink Rings and the bad odors that can come along with a poorly cleaned machine. This is not because of water quality. It is normally due to poor ventilation or high humid areas, whereas water sits on surfaces.

Sometimes the mold gets deep into drains, fill areas (for liquids) and is hard to clean out. Most common I have seen has been with washing too many 40 degree washes (cold washes) without running a hot load to rinse any "cold dirts" out of the system. If you know it's not the equipment, then you know it's something of this nature. It's very common. Don't feel alone. I used to live on the west coast...much higher stringent water quality rules and better water AND had the problem maybe 1 time a year, if that. Hard water tends to not wash the lines out properly so any accumulated mold (the black and pink grime) WILL not wash out unless it's so overloaded it has no option to flush out on your very nice clothes every few months. This can happen with "white foam" on dark clothes too.

Black Grime in your washer is most often a result of airborne fungi and mold spores. Can be very frustrating, but easy to maintain. More common in moist or humid environments. The spores do not originate from the water supply. They originate from water standing, whether it be too many cold washes without a hot ran clean, or from too many hot loads with steam accumulating over time in nooks and crannys of your machine.

Please be advised...Hard water CAN at times be an added obstacle if this is common to happen in your machine. The harder the water quality, the less clean your machine will be maintained, same as your clothes wearing faster from the hardness. If you know you have great ventilation and settling water is not a problem, then I would suggest testing your water quality for hardness. It may help to get rid of this over time. As a safety, I suggest running a "cleaning" load through your machine at least once a month with bleach, vinegar, baking soda and VERY HOT WATER on the long cycle. Then after, leave doors open after you wipe down the inside drum.

One last suggestion is to run this easy fix once a month to keep your machine extra clean. AND if it still does this, it's not the soap, softener or mold, but could be the hoses/seals inside wearing down.

If you're curious about What kind of water softener to try, I get Calgon Brand in the detergent or dish soap aisle...preferable liquid, but the powder works too. Put some in your Fill areas (after you wash the rims of the corners since they pop out) and then pour the baking soda in the load. Works great for me. I hope this helps you because from my point of view it's purely preventive maintenance, just like scrubbing a bathtub, only internal hoses on washing machines are harder to clean.

problem may be to with using very hot water which has dislodged sludge. fault may cure itself.at top of machine is a usually round device with 3 to 7 wires to it depending on type used. also connected is a small diameter hose. trace this hose to bottom of machine and it is connected into an air chamber. check air chamber is not clogged with sludge and if it is, clean it. remove small diameter hose and check not clogged as well and that there are no splits with it. there is really no need to clean appliance at all unless you are using liquid detergent which over time leaves a smell like drains. if you are, recommmend using powder
