Hasbro Star Wars R2 D2 Interactive Astromech Droid Questions & Answers
My interactive R2D2 astromech doesn't detect obstacles
If your Interactive R2D2 Astromech droid is not detecting obstacles and crashing into walls, there may be a problem with the sensors or the software.
The sensors on the R2D2 droid are responsible for detecting obstacles in its path and allowing it to navigate around them. If the sensors are faulty or damaged, the droid may not be able to detect obstacles and may crash into them.
The software on the R2D2 droid controls its movements and behavior. If the software is outdated or corrupted, the droid may not be able to properly interpret the sensor data and may behave erratically or unpredictably.
To fix this problem, you will need to diagnose and repair the faulty component. This may require the assistance of a qualified technician, as repairing a complex electronic device like an R2D2 droid can be challenging.

Find a thin plastic rod (same diameter as the broken pin (narrowest part)). Then heat the end of the rod with a cigarette lighter to form a bead (this will become the head of your pin). Clip this off of the rod (leaving a bit extra). Then drill a small hole where the old pin was (same diameter as the plastic rod). Insert the plastic rod into the hold you just drilled. Hopefully, the bulb you melted into shape is the same size as the head of the pin you broke off.
Good luck
Let me know if you understand my instructions. I have done it several times on various projects but never explained it to anyone before.

Hi, And yes indeed, faulty connections at the battery terminal are the most likely suspect especially if the rechargeables were of the Ni-Cad variety and were left in the remote and R2-D2 for an extended period of time without being used. This will cause leakage sometimes, look for either a whitish or greenish substance on any of the battery terminals-this can be scraped off pretty easily-or sanded off in worse case scenario's. Hasbro recommends alkaline for the reason that they deliver more current than a standard flashlight dry cell. Using recargeables is alright but you need to use Ni-Mh ( nickel metal hydride ) to provide longer run time and no memory effect ( batteries appearing to be fully charged but not lasting very long ). I hope this was useful, please connet back to let me know. Thanks for asking FixYa, and good luck, Prodzilla
