There are usually two reasons for this if the machine is on. 1) The memory is full. In that case, delete some messages. 2) The unit is set to Announce Only. This may be the default if you haven't set a personal greeting. Please add a comment with the model of your machine for additional information on how to change the incoming message options. (Make sure that your phone/phone line are receiving calls. (Check for dial tone, try calling the number).) For some older phones and answering systems, the Announce/Number of Rings before picking up was set by a switch on the back or the side of the base. Most newer phones let you set this in the Menu. Try under General Settings > Answering System or an Answering System menu item. (Again without knowing the model, I can't be absolutely sure of the menu and sub-menu lists.) I hope this helps. My Manual said to remove everything from unit including batteryWait around 10 to 12 seconds then replace back up battery BUT don't touch any of buttons on display after inserting battery, Turn unit over and You should see french/spanish/english on display & hit the key that is UNDER the language of Choice, then Re-conect unit to phone lines

As far as I know free codes does not unlock your phone, so even if you would find a unlock code or whatever you'd have to spend some money. I would recommend the Unlock-Zone.com site is nearly perfect and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums. I used them to unlock my cell phone. contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked. Hope this helps.

Venting here is of no value. If you are having trouble with AT&T or any other carrier, you can get help from them. No one here has any power or pull with your cell telephone provider.

Cancel if you want. Many contracts have steep penalties for early termination. Best to try to resolve the trouble than to pay the fine.
