Re: Dropped Phone Calls
How was the T1 tested? If they did it remotely and ran a typical 5-15 minute test, it may have been while the circuit was clean. Today's circuit equipment can mask errors on the user end that their SwitchRoom monitoring cannot see. Many things can cause this problem. They should have a tech on-site to pull the records from the SmartJack and do a head-to-head test. There can be errors coming in that only an on-site tech with the proper test equipment can see.

Ring and paging system
I have seen cases where programming can be messed up or even set back to default with rapid on-off-on-off power surges that often happen in power outages.
The system will need to be re-programmed. I have never programmed an NEC system but here is what you need. Either find a local installation company that can fix this for you OR figure out which NEC phone system you have and locate the Programming and Installation manual for it. (not a user guide or administrator's manual) The phone's part number will not help you figure out which NEC system you have, it only narrows it down a bit. Look for the main control unit in the basement, utility closet, etc..
Programming any phone system can be daunting for someone who has not done it before even with the right manuals. If you are not up to it, look for a company that can help.
MAKE SURE the system is defaulted before re-programming it! There could be a glitch in the programming that cannot be fixed without a system default so you want to do this before making any changes.
Also, I would highly suggest a UPS backup power supply for the phone system. This will keep it running for a short time in a power outage and will stop this from happening again. If you have a small system with 1-12 phones, most small UPS systems made for computers will work. Small phone systems use less power than a computer and monitor.
I NEED to cancel warning tones...
You cannot cancel the feature but the on-hold recall timer can be increased. This is a system programming feature that will effect all phones. You could change the timer from 60 seconds to say 240 or more.
Do you know who is in charge of making programming changes for your system? You may have someone at the office or you may pay a company for adds, moves & changes.
As far as programming goes, changing a simple timer is about as easy as it gets but it's still a bit complicated and would require a programming manual for your phone system (not the phone) so the first step is to find out which NEC phone system you have.
Message waiting Lights not working
This would be a problem with the system's programming and not a phone. You either have someone at the company that can administer the system or you pay an installation for programming changes.
Speaker is turned off??
Your telephone is probably ok but there is some system programming to turn the handsfree feature on. The procedure to do this is as follows:
1. Find the port number of the extension by pressing Feature 4 at the problem phone. The display will show the 2 digit port number and the extension number; remember the port number.
2. Enter program mode by pressing Feature #0*8974
3. Press Line Key 4
4. Dial 29
5. The display will show 01/29:HFU YES/NO ; with 01 being the first extension port number in the system. Press the Conference key until you see the port number we need to change.
6. When you reach the correct port number, make sure the cursor is all the way to the right by pressing the # key until it is there.
7. Press Line Key 2 to change the entry to yes.
8. Press transfer to write the new data.
9. Press Speaker to exit programming mode.
If you wish to call me I can step you through this free of charge. My number is 850-326-0394.
