NEC Dterm DTP 16D-1 Corded Phone - Page 2 Questions & Answers
How do I setup a mailbox on a NEC dterm 80
Your office voicemail administrator can reset your password to default, or better yet delete then add your voicemail so you start fresh. Quite often no one takes on this responsibility, in which case your service company may be able to do this remotely.
How to divert calls
You can forward all to another extension or to an outside number. You can also forward busy/no answer to both of those, but then it'll cancel your busy/no answer to voicemail. Speaker 41 plus ext or 9 plus outside number will set CF ALL, speaker 43 will set CFBNA, 42 and 44 to cancel. These are the default codes for NEC pro II, Elite, and IPK. The DTP phone also works on other systems that have different codes.
How to fix display on Dterm80
Ribbon cable inside phone to display sometimes gets jarred loose. If you can remove the base, then unscrew the 2 screws holding the display in place, then slide it out and look for the ribbon cable being loose. If you have small hands maybe you can get that back to its spot. Better yet buy a replacement phone on eBay for 25 bucks instead of hoping it'll go back in and work properly. Some displays go bad line by line, in which case there's no help for it.
How to disable do not disturb on NEC Dterm80 phone?
Have a coworker call your extension to see if DND is on, they will go straight to voicemail or get a fast busy. Speaker 42 may be the default cancel DND code, depending on your system and whether the codes were changed. Anyway, ringing is set up in system programming. If someone calls your extension it will likely ring, but outside calls have to be assigned to ring in system programming. Usually need a tech to do the programming since it gets complicated very quickly.
How do I remove the Operator feature on Auto Attendant?
Depends on the type of system you have. need model number of phone system and what cards are in the slots? normally the voicemail card is all the way to the right and is an FMS, VMS, or VMP card. might just need a nec tech and software to change it.
Nec electra professional 1 change name?
Name change is program 4-18 in system programming, but very rare for the user to be familiar with that. Call your vendor, maybe they'll walk you through it. On newer systems it is a user function, Speaker, 700 gets you in there if your codes are at default.
WHY DO ALL MY CALL GO DIRECTLY TO VOICE MAIL
Your phone is either on Do-Not-Disturb, or it is Call-Forward-All straight to voicemail. Speaker, 42 cancels DND and CFA on an IPK, an Elite, and on a Pro II if your codes are at default. If you have a newer system you might be able to scroll through the options in the display window to cancel.
Nec dterm 80
Sometimes panel stops working when internal ribbon cable comes loose. If you feel lucky, unplug the phone, take off the base, take off the back cover, re-attatch, re-assemble.
Trying to call an employees extention and it goes straight to intercom and he cant recieve any incoming calls on a dterm 80 phone
Not too clear on what's happening. Maybe the phone is set to call forward all. Usually CFA code is 41 plus ext. If the user happened to dial 41......, but forgot to dial 9 first for an outside line the phone could be forwarded to the twilight zone. In this case, dial 42 to cancel CFA, problem solved. If do not disturb in on, code 40 is the cancel code. This depends on your codes being at default, if your office codes were changed, say to make room for 400 series extensions, then who knows what will set and cancel CFA or DND. If you want the phone to ring instead of voice announce on internal calls, I'll have look for that later. I know it can be done in programming, but there's probably a code so you can do it yourself.
How do I get the feature key to stop blinking?
These phones work on about 8 NEC phone systems, but most are just newer versions of the same system. So, most likely the callback feature has been activated. Someone internally calls you, you don't answer, they dial # to activate callback. You come back to your phone, see feature key flashing, lift handset, dial #, call goes to whoever set callback, then feature key stops blinking.
