Curious if you have tested the switch to make sure it is the problem? Also, have you checked the armature & brushes (make sure the brushes move freely in the brush tubes and squarely contact the armature)? The DW708 is prone to bearing issues and the field is not uncommon either. It would be unlikely to have a new switch fail that soon unless there is another issue causing it.

Most likely it's the battery. If you can find someone else with the same system then maybe they could check it for you. Unfortunately, you have the 20 volt system which isn't nearly as common as the 18V. Or you could bring it to someplace like Batteries + Bulbs (If you have them around you) and they will tell you what's not working.

Is this a cordless?
