Batteries were not holding a charge so I replaced
Sounds like you have a bad charger. If you have an on board charger, plug it in to the wall and test the voltage at the charger port at the front of the joystick between pins 1 and 2 (the two eyes of a happy face). If you get between 26 and 28 volts and the voltage rises as you charge, then the on-board charger is OK. If not check the AC cord and connections to the charger, including the lego black block and/or connection of the charger at the controller. The type of connection depends on year and serial number.
If you have an off -board charger plugged into the front of the joystick, check your voltage directly at the batteries with the seat flipped back. With the off-board charger plugged into the front of the joystick measure the voltage being applied to the batteries at the large black 2 pin plug coming from the controller to the batteries. When you take this measurement leave the plug connected and put your digital voltmeter probes in the connector at the back (non-contact side). With the charger on, voltage should read between 26 and 28 Volts or come to that voltage after some time.
On board chargers run about $200 and off board chargers around $300.
Invest in a good AC cord if yours is questionable. For $8, I have fixed many of these chargers with a new AC cord from Radio Shack. Hope this helps.

How to recharge my dead batt.
depends on how long they been in that state, more than a few months might have ruined them. the best way is to remove them from chair, charge on a trickle for a few hours each, you have two 12 volt batteries, reinstall them and try your factory charger if no results call a repair center
What is the fuse on the battery for
should be one on each batt. they are to prevent over amping the electronics and/or if batteries are installed wrong, polarity wrong, to keep them from damage or worse.
How to move dead electric wheel chair
There are two levers, one for each motor, you have two. Depending on model either right under your knees (M51) usually, or under the rear, near the back casters. Typically black rubber on a metal rod. Move both in opposite directions, either both out, both in, or some types, both up, or both down. Sometimes they need wiggling, turn the chair OFF then try moving it in each position, (both in or both out). Google the manufacturer, your case invacare, they have detailed instructions there.
Right wheel has started to be jerky, especially in
Scott,
Sounds like the brake/motor/gearbox is worn out. In my experience, these motors will operate for about 3 years with an active person and then they need replacement. I usually replace these as a pair since the other assembly will wear out soon. Hope this helps.
