Until someone (hopefully Microsoft) comes up with a patch, you will have to run the game with a batch file. Open Notepad and paste the following text:taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe EE2.exe Start explorer.exe Now Save As [All Files] EE2.batinto your EE2 directory that contains EE2.exe. Right-drag that batch file onto your desktop and create a shortcut. You can right click on the shortcut and choose Properties to change the icon to the one in the EE2 directory (EE2.ico). You can do the same for the expansion (EE2x.exe) if you have it.You may still need to run the program as an administrator and in compatibility mode, and possibly might need to Take Ownership of the EE2 folder.

You should replace the video card with a new video card . I recommend you replace the video card with a NVIDIA video card. (Because NVIDIA is a sponsor of Empire Earth XD, you can see a NVIDIA logo in the Empire earth 2 intro) I also have this problem. I have a video card Intel Mobile Chipset. I am aware that the Intel Mobile Chipset does not support the effect of an explosion in Empire Earth 2 :(

Re install the game and try again also make sure your graphics card driver is up to date by running this program http://www.drivermax.com/download.htm it's very safe to use.

There are a couple of things you can try. Without knowing the exact model of your toshiba I will give you reference to all of them

The first is to hold down the "0" (zero) Key, and then hold down your power key WITHOUT releasing the 0 key. Then power on STILL holding down the 0 key and the recovery partition shoudl come up.

If this does not work try it about 5 times before giving up, sometimes toshibas can be moody.

Remember to choose restore to factory settings, and recovery to out of box state. Follow the prompts and you should be good to go.

If you have the CD key required you can probably just torrent the game. Use a torrenting program(like uTorrent) and search for "Empire Earth 2" on a torrenting website, then open the torrent file in the torrenting program and install it after it downloads.
