How to reformat ASUS Eee PC 900 notebook?

I have the linux version, not sure if you have the windows version or if it really matters. If you are looking to "reformat", you can go with the other suggestions with the USB stick. However, if you are reformatting to get back to the default settings, power on the computer and immediately hold F9. This will bring you to a screen that gives you the option to "restore factory defaults". You will lose all your previous settings, but if you were reformatting anyway, that's probably not a big concern.

How to reset the password of bios laptpp asus pc900

Most Asus motherboards will reset the BIOS by removing the RTC battery.

This battery is the small one that holds onto information the computer uses when it is not turned on; like what time it is (that's why they call it RTC = Real Time Clock).

The location of this battery varies from pc to pc, however, it is almost certainly on the motherboard. If you are technical enough to disassemble the machine, I can get more details for you. Basically, you remove the battery, the RTC battery and the power plug for 5 to 30 minutes, then reassemble and power up with a clear CMOS. You will have to adjust the time on the unit after this.

Bat bios checksum problems solve

Step 1: Update ASUS BIOS b> Insert bootable floppy disk or USB drive. Copy the updated BIOS file to floppy disk or USB drive. (Note: BIOS file and boot files should fit on a floppy disk. If the BIOS file is too large to fit with boot files, consider using the EZ Flash method described below.) Insert the motherboard support CD into optical drive. Copy AFUDOS.EXE from CD to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the DOS prompt appears, type the following: afudos /i[name of BIOS file]For example, "p4c800b.rom" might be the name of the new BIOS file. "afudos /ip4c800b.rom" is the command that will install it. Wait. Your monitor will display the update's progress with a series of messages: "Reading file," then "Erasing flash," then "Writing flash." The "writing flash" message will be followed with a percentage counter that tells you how far the write has proceeded. The final message will be "Verifying flash." DO NOT switch off or reboot at any point in this process or you will ruin your motherboard. After the update is complete, the utility will return to the DOS prompt. Remove your floppy disk and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Save and reboot. You're finished. b> Update Using EZ Flash Copy your new BIOS files to a floppy disk or USB drive. Reboot. When the system is at POST, press "Alt" + "F2" to enter EZ-Flash. Alternatively, on late model motherboards you may press "Delete" to enter BIOS setup, then access EZ-Flash from the "Tools" option on the navigation bar. (Select Tools > ASUS EZ Flash 2 > YES) Wait for your system to check current BIOS information. Insert your floppy or USB with the new BIOS file. Select the drive letter with the BIOS update file, then select the file. Wait for your system to check the update file. After the file check is finished, click "Yes" to update your BIOS. Wait. Let the update procedure run until it finishes. Do not switch off or reboot or you will ruin your motherboard. When the update is finished, remove the floppy or USB drive and reboot. Enter the BIOS Menu and load "Setup Default." Reboot. You're finished. b> Update Through the Internet If it isn't installed already, install the ASUS Update utility. You can either download it or use the copy on your motherboard's support CD. Close all Windows applications if any are running. Launch the ASUS Update utility from the Windows desktop by clicking "Start>Programs>ASUS>ASUSUpdate>ASUSUpdate." The "ASUS Update" main window will then appear. Select "Update BIOS" from the "Internet option" drop-down menu. Click "Next." Select the ASUS FTP site nearest you, or choose "Auto Select." Click "Next." From the FTP site, select the BIOS version that you wish to download. Click "Next." Start the update. Wait for it to complete. http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us

My fn key does not work.

ASUSTek Computer Inc., or simply Asus, has been a leading innovator in computer hardware technology for the last 20 years. Taking the same precision and care in its hardware manufacturing, Asus has been making quality laptops, desktops and servers for the last several years. With a selection of on-board functions in their laptop series, certain keys can malfunction during system updates and software changes. Use the function key (Fn) located at the bottom right of your keyboard in combination with any of the F keys located at the top of your keyboard. If none or only some of the combined command keys work together, then there is an issue with the ATK Drivers. An update of these drivers will eradicate the issue. Navigate your browser to the Asus support site, linked below. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx This website will provide the tools necessary for driver update. Select the appropriate products from the three drop-down menus at the top right of the support page. For the first box, select "notebook," the second box select the series notebook that you are using and for the third box, select the corresponding model. With all three selections, hit the search box located underneath these product selections. When the popup window appears, choose your corresponding operating system. Once chosen, hit search. A list of file types will appear with corresponding selections for driver updates. Click on the "+" box located next to the file type ATK. This will generate a list of all the appropriate driver types associated with this particular function. Locate the driver description "ATK Hotkey Utility" and click on "Global(DLM)". This will open another pop-up and your driver download will begin. Once the selected device driver has finished downloading, a prompt to launch the application will appear in the popup box of the download manager. Select "launch" to unpack the zip files using the Winrar software. http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/vendors/rarlab/home/ Make note of the folder in which the unpacked driver setup is sent. Locate the Setup file that was just unpacked and double-click for activation. This will initiate driver setup of the driver that has just been downloaded and restore the function of the Fn key. Follow the instructions once setup has initialized. Once setup is complete, you will be asked to restart your system so that all changes and driver updates can take effect. Close all programs and perform this final step to complete driver setup. The function key on the Asus keyboard should now be restored to its intended use. b>

Sound is on mute before entering ops. how to unmute

A) The hotkey is not Fn. That is the Function key. Press Fn and F8 hotkey at same time to decrease volume. Press Fn and F7 at same time to Mute volume.B) Is 'ops' your system tray volume, or Device Manager? I suspect Device Manager. C) Don't count on Windblows to upgrade your driver; or roll over driver; or play dead. (!O_O!) DO count on Windoze to lose the address to the driver, though. Suggest going to Asus Support, and download the Audio driver. In the small window that comes up on the right, (Opening Audio_XP_xxxxxx), make sure there is a Green dot, in the small circle to the left of Save File.If there isn't; left-click in the small circle to the left of Save File. Then when fully downloaded in the small download window to the left; DOUBLE-click right on the file name. In the next small window go to the far left, and click on Extract all files. At the bottom of the next 3 small windows click on Next, Next, and Finish. Restart your computer if not asked to do so. (Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen. Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart)For additional questions please post in a Comment.Regards, joecoolvette
