Did you try a System Restore/recovery? Unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot . Use this procedure to restore to a date before the updates, Did you get the Updates from Toshiba website? https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?soid=2737864&pf=true The specs show that machine had Windows Vista originally. Do you have a Windows 7 Repair disk? For a disk try here: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2011/08/download-windows-7-isos-to-reinstall-without-restoring-your-system/ OR here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/windows-7-iso-x86-and-x64-official-direct-download-links-ultimate-professional-and-home-premium/

How do I upgrade my bios for toshiba laptop ?

Why do you want to update the BIOS of your laptop? Be careful about updating your BIOS because it might cause your computer to crash. Or are you trying to update the drivers in your computer? If you are having some issues with its performance, then you need to update all the outdated drivers in your computer. I know that it's a total headache if you do the update manually but don't worry because there are Automatic PC Updater like RadarSync. It will scan and update all outdated drivers in your computer. I hope this helps!David

How do i remove and replace my keyboard for

Agree with LaptopRepair. The procedure for Keyboard removal is pretty close.

Wanted to add information on the FFC connector though.

If you have never dealt with a Flat Flex Cable connector, you are going to be in the dark, and could break something.

1) The flat cable from the Keyboard to the motherboard, is a Flat Flex Cable.

2) The connector on the motherboard the FFC connects to, is an FFC connector.

3) The Flat Flex Cable removes FROM the FFC connector.
> Just the flat flex cable, comes out of the connector on the motherboard.

Again, The flat cable by itself comes out of the connector, with no connector on it.

4) The FFC connector on the motherboard, does not come away from the motherboard. It is attached to the motherboard.

The FFC connector on the motherboard does not come apart in two pieces.

It opens to release the flat flex cable.

The FFC connector ONLY opens so far.
(1/8th inch ?) It is a two piece connector, but does Not come apart.

Looking at the FFC connector, you will spot a parting line going across the middle.

The top half of the connector looks like a fat T.
The two tabs on either side at the top of the Top half, make the T head shape.

These two tabs are pushed towards the LCD screen.
Ease one tab up a little, then ease the other tab up.

This opens the connector, and allows the flat flex cable to come out.

Install the flat flex cable from the New Keyboard, in the same direction as the old Keyboard's flat flex cable.

One side of the flat flex cable has exposed copper strips. (Contacts)
The other side does not.

Be sure to install the flat flex cable of the Keyboard in the correct orientation.

Do not rate this information. Just added info.

From what you wrote, more than likely the lcd cable is loose / damaged. Take the lcd casing apart, check the back of the lcd to make sure the cable is nice and secure, do the same with the other end that connects to the motherboard, test the lcd out BEFORE you put everything back together to determine where the problem is ;)

Hello sir, hi, this error could be several, so check this one by one:
  1. make sure your pc boots on the hard drive, not floppy, or other boot devices.
  2. If you are setting up windows boot from the CD drive.
  3. check your HARD DRIVE, this may be due to failure, format it using a low level format utility like disk manager.
  4. re-seat Hard Drive cables. use another cable if necessary.

Toshiba A205-S5879 laptop won't boot

Please resort to your installation discs that came originally with your computer package. Those install discs can be used as recovery discs. Try to do an OS repair install from those discs. If the problem still persists, I would suggest to wipe and format the hard disk and start a clean installation again. I understand your warranty expired but if it was only let's say three days ago, it should still be disputed. If your new installation doesn't work either, then I would suggest you contact your supplier to work out a replacement of your hard disk. Good luck.

The fan may be cluttered with dust. Clean it. Then turn the unit on and watch to see if the fan does indeeed work. If it does not, shut the unit down till you get a replacement fan. The fact that the unit shuts down is a saftey feature to keep your Proceesor from being damaged.
If cleaning it works, your processor should be ok.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
