No I would say not . The only thing that may be at fault is if the reach (length 0f thread) of the bosh plugs was incorrect there is a remote chance that they hit the piston tops. The problems as you describe are like of a battery with a dead cell or loose and dirty terminals . When there is not enough power in the battery (low voltage) then the ignition system is starved and the coil and other bits will not work properly. Also if the drive belt is loose or the alternator is faulty then electrical system is down on power and the faults appear.

The spark plugs are located in the Cylinder heads. The engine is a boxer design so there are two spark plugs on the left hand side and two on the right. You need to feel down the sides of the engine between the cam shaft covers. You will feel the rubber spark plug leads. Pull these off and then you can get to the spark plugs.

Hi not sure if the engine is mounted the same position as the roadster if so it could mean taking off the rear bumper(sounds crazy) top 3 plugs are easy to get but bottom three are above the exhaust manifold at a lower angle than usual due to way mercedes mounted the engine. theres also a tool required to pull off the HT leads
