The components of Craftsman T1200 powerline system: 25.6 cubic inches (420 cc) Zongshen 4P90HU 4-cycle single cylinder 2-valve vertical shaft air-cooled gasoline engine and mechanical CVT transmission with infinite forward and reverse gears. The engine has a float carburetor, splash lubrication system, and electronic ignition system. The maximum travel speed (forward/reverse): 5.5 mph (8.8 km/h) and 2.3 mph (3.7 km/h).

Have you checked the belt from the engine to the transmission see if it is bad.

you can set the clearances cold but the measurements will be .002" bigger to allow for valve stem length increase when hot example --a setting of .012" hot will be .014" cold Hot is best as the stems do not always expand uniformly so valves in one engine may expand more or less in another engine always check the clearance when hot B&S engines are noted for valve stem stretch for a period from new so a regular monitoring of the hot clearance is a good idea ( check say every 20 hours operation for the first few periods until the clearance remains steady)

If is a twin cylinder engine this could be very well the problem. Without the engine info it is hard what it could be.

Hi there, I assume you mean the blade on cutting deck? Is the pulley that drives it still firmly connected to it? (I mean the pulley and the blade spin together as one, and not independently) If the blade is loose on its spindle check under the deck for damage, and that the blade securing bolt(s) are intact and tight. If the problem is that the pulley isn't getting driven by the deck belt, that is a different story. Most likely the deck belt isn't getting enough tension to grip the pulley. Check the tensioner is working properly and the spring is still hooked up and working.

Is the deck too low or one side lower than the other? Level the deck side to side, front should be a little lower than back (about 1/4 inch). check tires for correct air pressure. Make sure blades are balanced.

Look to see if a mouse nest is blocking your cooling fins. The smell could be the nest.

Check the bearings in that spindle.
