Remove 2 pins from top back of deck and push the bracket pins out of the holes. remove 2 pins from deck front rods and pull rod end from holes in deck brackets. remove deck engage cable.

Very simple. The 6 inch or so pin that holds it on is retained by a clip on one end. To remove clip use a pair of pliers. If you work steadily and carefully you will be able to reuse this clip. After removing clip, pull the pin out. Old deflector and spring be removed now. To get the spring right you have to try it in position before installing it. Just remember that the spring is holding the deflector down so when you are done installing, when you pick up on the deflector there is pressure holding it down. Don't put the pin clip on until you verify the spring force is correct because getting that spring clip off is the Hardesty pay off the job.

You will have to change the spindle and blade. I would replace the whole spindle assembly as just the shaft is almost as expensive as the whole assembly.

try starter fluid in the carburator. If that works, try changing the fuel filter. If not, try adjusting the valves.

Do you mean "mower blade won't turn"? This could be a broken or slipped belt or possible a damaged mandrel on the mower deck.

check out the steering connecting rod. its the rod that goes from left to right front wheels. if it is not completely straight, either bend it straight or buy a new one. Also, could be your front axle if you dont have the cast iron heavy duty axle.
