Hobart Welders 500505 Handler 140 MIG & Flux Cored 140 Amp Welder w/Cart - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I have a ct520 welder it stick welds fine but does
Did you get all the gas needed for the different welding operations? I know you need a bottle of argon for the TIG welder, and a bottle of Oxygen for the plasma cutter? I don't even know, could be acetylene. The Mig welder uses either, gas or flux wire. When you have the gas in place with the Plasma cutter, ground your work, set the pressure on 50 psi and the amperage on 40, and let her rip. It cuts like butter. The Tig (Tungstun inert gas) is a stick welder for stainless, and the mig (metal inert gas) is for just about anything. But you probably know all this. I haven't read anything bad about it. It sounds like a good machine.
How to from 480 to 230 on a 300r 3 phase hobart
Assuming 230 volt three phase primary you would need an autotranformer. A very large one. If only 230 single phase is available then it isn't a practical posibility. Probably cheaper to find a different welding machine.
I have a hobart handler 120/90amp wire feed welder
I have welded countless hours with Linde & Lincoln & even a few Hobarts & the only time that I ever had the same problem was when the ground connection either to the object I was welding, or the welding cable ground wasn't good & clean & tight. Same on stick welders also. I did develop the habit of grinding not only where I was preparing to weld, but where I was placing my ground clamp & that always provided a better "frying bacon" sound as I went along the business of pushing a bead. In a welder, the only other thing than that is involved is the step-up transformer and your wire. Hope this helps.
I have a handler 135 but when i plug in there is a
Sound like a solinoid jamed open, the buzzing is the solinoid plunger viberating, this is possibly due to for too much gas, turn the cylinder off. Close the regulater so the Needle/s are at 0, release the wire feed rollers, pull the trigger , set the flow meter to approximatly 12-15Ltr try welding again.
Wire feed motor lacks power
Called a Hobart repair shop. They said it sounds like I need a new liner in the cable. Will replace it on Friday. Hope it works!
Will 12-3 braided wire be ok to run 187 hobart mig
I would run no smaller than 10-3, preferably 6-3. I've seen more than one welder burn out due to insufficient extension cords. 10-3 is pushing it for 75', and if you ever plan to extend the leads, you will be money ahead getting the 6-3.
I have a LINDE VI-252
you will have to get the user manual for mig welder stores for the exact connections of the wires.
click thois link directly to get the hobart user manual.its not the exact model but near to your model of hobart the connections will be near to same and will give fair idea to connect the parts

The unit powers up but when you pull the triger it
There is the possibility that that the tensioner for the wire rollers is too tight. If this is the case here is a good rule of thumb for any make wire welder. Run the wire out of the tip about an inch or so, grab the wire with your fingers, now pull the trigger. If the wire is pushing your fingers back with a good amount of force loosen the tensioner, and repeat this procedure until the wire just starts to push and then the wire starts to slip in the rollers of the wire feed. Your tensioner will be set just right. Another possibility is that the tip and nozzel are dirty causing it to ground when you pull the trigger and the wire touches your work. If this is the case clean both tip and nozzle. A good tip is to us a an anti spatter product. Just rememer to dip the nozzle in it every once in a while, while the nozzle is hot. A third possibility is that the liner in your lead is dirty or the wrong diameter wire for the lead, tip or the rollers is being used. Check to make sure that these items match the diameter wire you are using.
I know the response is a little long, but I hope it helps.
Hobart Titan 8 Combo cracked slip ring
I don't know where you are located, so I don't have a local vendor name to recommend. However, look up motor and generator repair companies, and give them the name plate information, they will be able to provide you the slip rings.
If your in NY, Volland Electric is one such entity
I have an hobart welder-handler 150, when the
why would you need to go to the lowest setting?. anyway look at the feed rollers, make sure they are the correct size for the wire, secondly check the clutch mechanism on the wire mounting centre post this might be too tight, thirdly check the linner this could be crimped.
If the set works ok on number 2 it should be ok on 1, perform the set up again, ensure the rollers are not tightend down on the wire.
lets now if the problem clears,
Ken
My Handler 135 mig welder , welds and then cut out
hi if the set cuts out after 10 /15 min on full power the thermal cut out switch is doing its job if it cuts out after 2 or 3 min it is faulty it is a bi metalic switch and is clipped on the main transformer take the wires off it and join up try the set DO NOTweld without it as you will overheat the transformer these little sets only have something like a 20% duty cycle hope this helps merlin v12
