Can I put bleach down
Of course. Bleach will not harm the toilet or plumbing and will help alleviate odor issues if they exist.

Odor when water turned on
Most Saniflo products comes with a 1/2" opening on top of the pump casing, which the opening is for European installations only (this is also used in Europe) in the US the 1/2" opening must be kept plugged, if left open, odor will come out of the hole there. But make sure that you cap the 1/2" opening and vent the unit using the 1 1/2" vent connection on top. Make sure is vented to the open air, as air must flow in and out at all times.

Pump does not turn on
Is the unit plugged in the GFI? Could also be a problem with the pressure chamber or float switch that activates the pump on and off. I suggest that you contact Saniflo Tech support about this issue.

Vent on top is blowing bubbles and toilet pan is
If you have a Saniplus model then the vent connection is on the top right side of the pump casing if you are facing the toilet with pump sitting behind. The vent pipe needs to be minimum 1 1/2" and must be vented to the open air so air can flow in and out at all times. To the left side of the vent connection is the discharge pipe which should be a 3/4" or 1" discharge pipe. You can try disconnecting the vent pipe and run it with the vent pipe open, also you can disconnect the discharge pipe and put a bucket at the end of the discharge elbow and flush the toilet into the bucket, it will free flow into the bucket and there are no restrictions. That way you can tell if the problem is the pump or the installation set up.

Picture of check valve on saniflo
Jim:The check valve should be the fitting coming right out of the unit. It is a one way valve that only allows the unit to push water out. The check valve prevents water from coming back down into the unit. What issues are you having?Martin Rizzo (

The pump kept running after
hi,
The Saniplus has a pressure chamber and at the bottom is a rubber membrane which acts as a float switch. Water pressure pushes up on the membrane, the unit turns on, pumps out the waste and as the pressure is released, the membrane goes back down and shuts off. So the problem might be a warped membrane, something stuck at the bottom of the membrane or the microswitch may be stuck on the on position. You will have to open the unit and remove the motor and pressure chamber to inspect it. Also the water level on the toilet is meant to be very low, Saniflo uses a rear discharge toilet, not a bottom discharge (standard toilet). Unfortunately the water level cannot be adjusted on Saniflo toilets.
Also you have to check the micro switch used for the floting control. Have attched a link check page 9 you can see the schematic diagram.
