Make sure the USB cable is properly inserted behind your printer in the USB port. You may try to unplug then replug the cable to ensure proper connection (forgive me for suggesting this but I have encountered quite a number of instances where the cable was not properly inserted).
It could also be a Print Spooler issue. Ensure that the spooler service is running. On your computer, go to Start menu > Run > type Services.msc > hit OK or enter. Scroll through the Services items and look for Print Spooler. Right-click on the item and select Start (if item is currently on Stop). You may also select Restart. Once the service is running, try to continue with the installation.

The color cartridge may not be seated properly in the carrier or just needs cleaning. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Close the covers. Unplug the printer from the power source. Follow the steps found in this link http://bit.ly/bb33Ob on how to manually clean the print nozzles. Plug the printer back to the power source. When printer's ready, reload the cartridges. If problem persists, contact Lexmark at 1-800-LEXMARK(1-800-539-6275) so they can better check the cartridge. Leave a comment if you need more assistance and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
