Just installed Epson NX400 printer. Keep getting M88/69 "Cannot recognize ink cartridges" error. Tried re-inserting cartidges twice already and still same error.
What next?
I found a solution to the same prolem that you guys have. I took the cartridges out and shook them horizontally, instead of vertically, with the large surface up for 3-4 seconds. Re-inserted them back in. Then I started seeing on the LCD "Recharging Cartridge". When it returned to regular copy screen, I turned the printer off and turned it back on. No more error message. It's been working for almost a day now. Try it to see if that works for you. Good Luck.
FYI. I just bought NX400 last Friday. The error message came on this morning.

I cannot get my Epson NX400 to print. When I turn it on it gives me this message: "Error B88/69/68 Cannot recognize ink cartridges". I'm using genuine Epson 69 ink. I assumed that the cartridge was bad so I replaced It with a new Epson 69 black cartridge and I still get the same message. How do I fix this?
Try to run the ink pad reset utility software.
Please log on to epson.com. The software runs on win xp and win vista.

I have an epson sx105 printer, can anyone tell me how to change the cartridge. Can you only change a cartridge when it is completely empty? The instructions are not very helpful. The cartidge cassette will not come into view.

that guide shows how to change the cartridges and no you dont have to wait untill they have run out to change the cartridges

How do you replace ink in EPSON TX110? Paul
The procedure is shown on the panel you can see if you open the cartridge compartment of your TX110. However, it can take some effort to decipher the icons. It is known to work if the ink low light is on, untested otherwise.
That's it folks!

My Epson TX100 printer does not recognise the ink cartridges. Is there an easy fix?
Yes, Genuine Ink Cartridges.
Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.
In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.
These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.
I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.
That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.
So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......
I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .
This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.
Thanks and Good Luck :0)

My Epson NX415 does not recognize refilled and reset cartridges. What can I do about it?
Don't let your ink levels drop below 25% before refilling and resetting your cartridges. There is an inner and an outer chip on these cartridges. The inner chip disables the outer chip when it's contacts are no longer bathed in ink. So, it doesn't matter if you "reset" the outer chip after refilling your empty cartridge because the chip was disabled. I'm really curious how you refilled these cartridges yourself without souring yourself on refilling from the experience. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I refilled a set of these cartridges when we had replacement chips available (we don't now because our chip distributor was violating Epson patents) and it was an absolute mess, took forever, and the cartridges still didn't work in our test printer.

epson nx400 doesn't recognize ink cartridges
First of all let cartridge in the printer.... Then press Start.. it will say cartridge not recognised... then remove all cartridge (do not turn off printer).. then wait for 15 minutes...then again put cartridges in head... then press start..start...start..It will recognise on 2 to 3 tries.. Works on Epson TX210,200,410...If u want to be recognised then do not turn off printer...

Epson Stylus NX415 does not recognize ink cartridges. Cartridges are Epson 88's. Worked for awhile, and then stopped recognizing them. Tried powering down the printer, cleaning the cartridges, turning it back on, but now dice. Scanner is not working either.
Epson Printers are sensitive in terms of Ink Cartridges.. The latest Epson Printers does not have ink reseter.. Ink reseter are already built-in on the ink cartridges.. The problem on this printer is when you have a cartridge on your printer, let say, 30% of the ink level, even though your ink is new, and you change it without using the right ink replacement method, it will recognize your ink as a 30% ink level. When your ink level drops to 0%, but you have remaining 70% of the ink, it does not recognize it anymore. The chip on the ink cartridge is already registered as an empty cartridge.
