Samsung LN46A550 LCD power on/off problem again.
It is the Main A/V board that is faulty, not the power supply. The rainbow screen that you are seeing and the searching for signal message before it shuts off confirms this. It is the large board at the center of the tv. If you can get me the part number off it, I can find you the replacement. It will be either printed on the board itself or on a small label.
Sai.
TV will not turn on
It is an indication of faulty electrolytic capacitor on the power supply section.
Leaky capacitor affect your power supply that's why it is hard to power up.
If you haven't knowledge in electronics then don't attemp to repair it because there some component on the power supply that can cause you an electric shock even it is unplugged.
I've advice you to look for a qualified technician to isolate the problem.
It is fixable and no need to replaced the entire power supply.
The symptom will get worst if not replaced the leaky capacitor.

Your problem may be that you need to select the "AV" input on the HDTV. Samsung HDTVs of late combine the composite video with the green input component video. To use the yellow composite video in the green input port you have to select the proper AV input on the TV which tells the TV to go composite video (yellow) instead of component video (green). Try this, it may work.

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
Hope this helps
3 horizontal lines on Samsung LN46A650 upon start
I had the power board capacitors on my Samsung 46LNA650 checked, and the out-of spec/leaking ones (13 in all) replaced. The horizontal lines disappeared; but, the left side of the panel was dark for about 20 minutes (until warmed-up). I then found this forum/link that solved the problem! This simple fix was probably all that was ever needed - IT WORKS!!!!!!
