It seems that you are having problem with the optical drive, it maybe the hardware itself or software side, please follow the steps below for you to be able to fix the problem.


1. Click on START

2. Type REGEDIT on the search bar on START Menu on the Run Box

3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

4. Expand SYSTEM

5. Expand CurrentControlSet

6. Expand Control

7. Expand Class

8. Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

9. Look for the Upper Filters / right click on it / click on Delete

10. Look for the Lower Filters / right click on it / click on Delete

11. Restart PC

12. Try you CD / DVD ROM

If nothing happens, click on this link then click on RUN and follow the steps, then restart computer and try to run a disc again, if still nothing happens, theres a possibility that the problem is with the hardware side or the media player that you are you using...

You can download the Windows 7 Driver for your VGN-CR515E/B Computer model from the below link. Please go through all the download and installation instruction while before installing the Drivers.

Please paste the link in a new Internet Explorer window and press the Enter Key to open it. Then, you can download the required Drivers and install it in the Computer. Please make sure that you restart the Computer after each installation for the settings to take the effect.

The Computer is shipped with the Recovery Center, a hidden partition in the Hard Drive. Please restart the Computer and press the F10 key when the VAIO logo appears to access the Recovery Center.
If the Recovery Center is accessible, select Restore C Drive to reinstall the pre-installed Operating System, Applications and the Drivers (restore to factory settings).
If the Recovery Center is not accessible, then the Recovery partition may be deleted. In that case, you can contact Sony Accessories and Parts Center from US at: 1-800-488-SONY (7669)to order the Recovery Discs.

It's because it is using realtech high definition audio. You need to install hotfix from Microsoft KB88811 and then install audio driver.
