To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in thePrograms list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
- Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:

You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. - In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
- Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
- In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
- Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
- Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

After 2 months my Dell Studio 17 laptop screen
Sounds like an intermittent failure of the LCD (Those can be a pain to isolate when something works, then doesn't etc.) Hopefully the repair depot will get to see the LCD problem this time. As for known issue with that model, I haven't seen any trend with it. A search on the internet didn't show any trend either.
How do I replace the keyboard on my Dell Studio
Underneath

There have been other people who fixed the problem by rolling back to the previous version of PowerDVD too.

Won't eject cd and none of the touch buttons
That's a known issue with the Studio laptop. I have the same laptop (almost the same- 15.4) and I experience the same difficulties a lot. Dell has some issues with their DVD drives.
The most affective solution I've found was to restart the computer, and click Fn+eject (it's the F10 button if I'm not mistaken)
That's the least intrusive solution I know

This is usually a sign that the cd drive has failed..
The only other things it could be are, something has lodged itself inside the cd tray.
Or the lens has become extremely dirty.
You could try running a lens cleaning disk through the drive, after blowing it out with a can of compressed air, and it may help..
but more then likely its just a bad disk.
