How do I eject DVD from studio laptop.

  • I had this happen on my Dell Studio with slot-type drive. Pressing the Eject key next to the function keys didn't work and the drive did not show up in My Computer. Eventually it ejected itself when I switched off, switched back on and repeatedly clicked on the above mentioned eject key whilst the computer was booting.

Laptop switches off without warning

Take a look at the event viewer (Start -> Run -> type "eventvwr" and hit OK) and see if there are any STOP errors right before or right after the reboot time. The machine is probably set to automatically restart after a blue screen STOP error (aka "Blue Screen of Death", or BSOD), but that's making it reboot too quickly for you to see the actual error. Post a new problem with the STOP error code and we can help you out further!

Is there a button or something to get the disc to come out

An Eject button is usually near where the disc tray is. Locate it. If not, you can still go to My computer (XP), Computer (Win 7), find the drive and right click on it. Scroll down till you see the word 'Eject'. click on it and the tray should open. There is no other method on how to open a tray and get the disc out. if these two fail, it's time you took the Dell to a computer expert as these machines are really delicate. Hope this helps. Cheers

This may be as simple as cleaning the camera lens. If it is working, there is nothing wrong with the software, it must be a hardware problem so wither the lens is dirty or may be scratched.

Low memory problems

Low memory problems could be low virtual (hard disk) memory.Hard disk maintenance will free up hard disk memory space. Hard disk maintenance should be carried once a month to make your computer run efficiently. This removes redundant and temporary files, recovers disk space and speed up hard disk access. Disk Cleanup should be done first - Click My Computer - then right click on the C drive then click Properties, then click Disk Cleanup - let it examine the C drive then it will calculate the amount of disk space it will recover, tick all the boxes to recover the maximum disk space and then Click OK and then Yes to perform these actions. If you have a D drive then repeat these steps on this drive too. Next the C drive needs to be Defrag. This process converts fragmented files into continuous files and this speeds up disk access and makes the hard disk not work as hard. Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter - click to highlight the C drive and click Analyse - then click Defragment. When this is completed repeat these steps for the D Drive if you have a D drive. Disk Cleanup and Defrag can take a long time to complete, especially if these tasks have not been for a long time.

When I turn on the computer the screen is white

Laptop LCD screen turned completely white
What can you do if the laptop LCD screen turned completely white? From my experience I can tell that this problem may be related to the following:
1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen.
2. Defective LCD screen.
3. Defective motherboard (I assume the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).

When you turn on the laptop, it starts but the image on the screen is completely white right from the beginning.
Most likely you still can use the laptop with an external monitor. Just connect the monitor to the VGA port on the back or side of your laptop and then switch the video output from internal to external mode.
On Toshiba laptops you can toggle between internal and external screens using Fn+F5 keys. Hold down Fn and press on F5 until you get video on the external monitor.
On IBM laptops use Fn+F7.
On HP laptops use Fn+F4.
It’s possible that you have to use a different key combination on your laptop but you get the idea.
On some laptops, in order to be able to use the external monitor, you have to connect it to the laptop and then restart the laptop so the external monitor is detected by the laptop.
I noticed that in some cases the laptop screen may turn white because of poor connection between the video cable and the LCD screen. If you want to check this connection, you’ll have to take apart the display panel because the connector is located on the back side of the LCD screen.
I always check the video cable connection first. Reconnecting the video cable may fix your problem.
If reconnecting the video cable doesn’t help, most likely you have a problem either with the LCD screen or with the motherboard.
The best way to find out which one is causing the problem is testing the laptop with another working LCD screen. Without this test you’ll have to guess because as I mentioned before this could either bad motherboard or bad LCD screen.
You’ll have to disconnect the video cable from the LCD screen and the inverter board. After that you connect another working screen and test video.
The original screen is white but my test screen works normal and I can see the image. After this test I can tell that the problem must be related to the screen.
After I assembled everything back together and connected the original LCD, it’s still white.
CONCLUSION.
In my case this problem is related to the LCD screen and it has to be replaced.
