I can recieve email but I cant send any email out
If you can successfully receive e?mail messages, but can't send messages, then
Windows Mail is having problems connecting to the outgoing e?mail server that's used to send messages. These are likely possibilities:
-
If you've never been able to send e?mail successfully using Windows Mail, your e?mail account is probably not set up properly. First, follow the steps to verify your e?mail account information in the "I can't receive e?mail" section of this help topic. If you verify that your e?mail account information is entered properly, you might need to change your authentication settings so that when sending mail, you sign in using your e?mail user name and password. Check with your e?mail provider to see if it requires authentication for sending e?mail.
To use authentication when sending e?mail
-
Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.
-
Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
-
Under Mail, click your e?mail account, and then click Properties.
-
Click the Servers tab, and then, under Outgoing Mail Server, select the My server requires authentication check box.
-
If the account information that you use to send e?mail is not the same information that you use to receive messages, click Settings, click Log on using, and then enter the user name and password that you use to send e?mail.
-
Many Internet service providers (ISPs) require you to be directly connected to their network to use their outgoing e?mail servers. If you're using a mobile PC and connect to the Internet using a different ISP (such as when using a wireless connection in a hotel), you might be able to receive, but not send, e?mail. Some ISPs will allow you to send e?mail when connected to a different provider if you use authentication when sending. Follow the previous steps to use authentication when sending e?mail. If your ISP doesn't allow this, you'll need to find out the name of the outgoing mail server for the ISP you're currently using, and then change the settings in Windows Mail to use it.
To change the outgoing mail server settings
-
Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.
-
Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
-
Under Mail, click your e?mail account, and then click Properties.
-
Click the Servers tab, and then enter the new mail server in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) box.
-
If the new outgoing mail server requires authentication, under Outgoing Mail Server, select the My server requires authentication check box.
-
Click Settings, click Log on using, and then enter the user name and password for the outgoing mail server.

Yahoo
has been experiencing a system wide problem. Many of Yahoo! Mail
customers are experiencing the same problem as you are..
To
assist Yahoo mail customers with this problem, AOL will transfer all of
your contact information and future emails from your Yahoo account to
your new AOL account for the next 30 days for free. (Until Yahoo can
correct the problem). You won't miss any emails from your Yahoo account.. They will be automatically forwarded to your new AOL account.
Here are the instructions:
1) Go to AOL and set up a new AOL email account. (Click on this link) https://my.screenname.aol.com/_cqr/login/login.psp?seamless=novl&locale=us&offerId=newmail-en-us-v2&siteState=ver%3A4'rt%3ASTANDARD'at%3ASNS'ld%3Awebmail.aol.com'uv%3AAOL'lc%3Aen-us'mt%3AAOL'snt%3AScreenName'sid%3Af27fcb24-926a-4b22-ac39-ac0d19e1d3f4&authLev=0&sitedomain=sns.webmail.aol.com&lang=en
2)
During the set up process you will be asked to provide a security
question. Later, you'll need to answer the security question to set up
the transfer, so don't forget the answer.
3) Once your new AOL account is set up, go to your AOL email page. Look in the upper right hand top corner for the word, SETTINGS and click on it.
4) (Next page) On the left hand side, look for the word, Accounts and click on it.
5) (Next Page) Look on the line beginning with, Transfer Accounts and locate the link that reads, AOL Easy Transfer and click on it.
6) (Next Page) Agree to the terms of service and click on, Get Started.
7) (Next Page) Under Copy from, enter your Yahoo email address and password.
8) Under Copy to, enter your new AOL email address and password.
9) (Next Page) Carefully Read, and select the options you need. (Click, Continue)
10) (Next Page) Click, Go to AOL Mail.
11)
(Next Page) Enter the answer to your security question you created when
you set up your new AOL email account. (Click, Continue)
12) (Next Page) Look at the top Left hand corner and click on, MAIL.
That's
it. (Although AOL says that it may take up to 24 hours to complete the
process - it usually only takes about 30 minutes.) After you receive
your confirmation email, Click on your Contacts in your AOL account. When you see your Contacts from your Yahoo account there, the transfer has completed.

If you haven't signed in to your Yahoo! Mail account in over three
months, your free account will be deactivated. If this happens, in
order to access Business Mail, you must reactivate your Yahoo! Mail
account. When you try and sign in to your free Yahoo! Mail account,
Yahoo! Mail should give you the option of reactivating your account.
Select the "Reactivate your Yahoo! Mail address" radio button to
continue using your free Yahoo! Mail account.
If the previous is not possible, you have the option of creating a new Yahoo Mail account.
For future reference, you can open an AOL email account. When you first activate your AOL account you will be asked if you want to import all of your contacts and information from another account. (Like yahoo mail for example) Click yes and follow the prompts. This is a good backup method to store your contacts and other information.

I have my yahoo account set up on Outlook 2010. I
2 reasons as far as i know
1. If you recieve an email with attachment ( more than 3-4 MB ) Outlook may not download as the file size is too big
2. Any mail with attachment and has Virus/spyware linked to it, Outlook will disconnect.
Work around solution is, If you are using Antivirus which has Email filtering, Disable this option from the Antivirus program or Turn it off for time being till you download all the mails from Yahoo to Outlook and turn it on
Another reason is, at times yahoo login ( website ) ask you for verification code, ( this could be for several reasons like, someone trying to access your email account with wrong password, it will prompt for verification code )
If your login page is asking for verification code, and you are trying to download the mails from yahoo to outlook, you will get a username/password screen on Outlook, this is when you login to yahoo webpage and logout.
