Homelite Consumer Products 9.0 Amp, 14 In. Chainsaw - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Very hard to pull when starting . i think the
If defective it must be replaced.
Starter Handle difficult to pull:
1. Remove the starter cover.
· Inspect the flywheel and crankshaft under the starter cover. Are the woodruff key slots on the crack shaft and flywheel aligned and the key intact? If not; Please consider taking the saw to a good local saw seller/mechanic for a written diagnosis before authorizing any repair or ordering any parts; if yes continue.
· Does the starter operate smoothly? If yes, reinstall the cover and continue with 2, if not repair the starter.
2. Is the saw equipped with a decompression valve? Yes continue, no proceed with 3.
· Leave the ignition off, set the valve and pull the starter.
· Pull gently to release the valve. Is there a difference in the effort required?
· If yes continue with 3, if no repair or replace the decompression valve.
3. Was this saw perhaps operated in a lean condition (metal transfer from the piston to cylinder wall)? This may be caused by many things including but not limited to; leaky intake connections at the engine or carburetor; leaky crankcase seals; cracked fuel delivery lines; running on gasoline containing no 2-cycle oil.
· Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove the plug. Remove the muffler (clean it and the spark arrestor before reinstalling), hold a light at the plug hole and inspect the cylinder through the exhaust port. Is it smooth and shiny or does it appear speckled with dull gray spots or smears?
· Pull the starter slowly, inspect the piston as it rises and falls. Is it a dull gray without scratches and gouges?
· Hold the light at the exhaust port and look through the spark plug hole, inspect the cylinder above the exhaust port. Is it shiny and smooth or speckled with gray spots or smears?
Please Note: Any spots or smears on the cylinder or deep scratches and gouges in the piston indicate the saw was operated in a lean condition. Repair of this on a home owner quality saw often exceeds replacement cost. A repair estimate by an independent saw shop should be considered.

Do i mix oil with my fuel
It states your saw as an electric saw. So no you don't even add fuel.
Your power comes from electrical power.

Brushes sparking too much
Homelite Chainsaws have no brushes that I know of. Maybe it is not that. It could be a short in the magneto coil wire that goes to the switch.
Check to see if anything is shorting out under the flywheel cover. All the way back to the switch.

To much slack in the pull chord of my dcx 5000
You will need to take the recoil assembly off the saw and wind the cord springer tighter around the pully as needed to take up the slack. There should be a notch in the pully you place the rope in and turn the pully in the direction needed to wind the spring tighter a turn or two. Then take the rope out of the notch and the slack will be taken up by the spring.

Homelite xl chainsaw e-ring on bar tightening bolt
The original Homelite company has been out of business for many years. Getting parts for them at our repair shop is impossible. I know you can go and buy new Homelite units from the big box stores, but these are not being manufactured from Homelite. Sometimes you can find parts from repair shops that have leftover parts. You might want to call around. You might find them. George

Carb filling up with fuel when its not running
The "ONLY WAY" fuel can pour out the carburetor is because the needle is being held up off the seat inside of the carburetor. A piece of trash is most likely causing this. Remove the carburetor, disassemble it, remove the needle and blow compressed air into it to see if it will clear it out. George

Jambed brake
Hello Brian; Why do you want to? You may never get it back together. The IPL is probably as good an illustration as you will find. Enlarge it enough to make the detail visible. There is a chain brake kit available that might include some instructions but no promises (brake dragging? try changing the clutch bearing). This is as detailed as it gets. Contact Homelite and they will likely tell you to take to a service center.

A drop down list appears; self explanatory from here. cursor down to "Ranger 33cc 16" Chain Saw UT-10926". "Clutch - Hand Guard - Drive Case Cover" detail.

Homelite chainsaw won't stay running
Make sure you are using fresh fuel mix (50:1 ratio). Don't use boat motor oil in a saw--only modern synthetics made for saws. Always premix the oil and fuel thoroughly before adding to the saw. Check the fuel filter for plugging and the condition of all fuel lines, plus the primer bulb condition. Check all carburetor fasteners for tightness. Make sure the air filter and muffler are not plugged. If still no help, you may need to service the carburetor. For an excellent article on Walbro carburetors, go to: http://www.drystacked.com Pay particular attention to the placement of the lower diaphragm and the cover gasket--interchanging positions of them cause many headaches. Adjustment of the two jet screws require a special 'D' screwdriver which may necessitate a trip to a servicing dealer for adjustment. Hope this helps!

I have a mculloch electramac em200 2.0 what mix do I use in it
I'm a little confused here. First I see a problem with Homelite 9.0 amp chainsaw, then you ask about an Electromac EM 200. Both of those are electric saws and don't require a "mix". The only thing you have to put into them is bar and chain oil.

Homelite 6000 Generator running rough, now won't start
Sounds like the engine is not getting enough fuel. Two possible problems:
1) I know this is a dumb question, but did you turn the fuel back on?
2) If the answer to question 1 is yes, then the small fuel filter inbetween the gas tank and carburetor probably has hardened. The inside of the fuel filter is a piece of foam and it is really common for the in line fuel filters to harden when no fuel is present and cause a clog in the fuel line. Try replacing the inline fuel filter and life should be good!
