My fs 45 whipper snipper is starting but running
I have a Stihl FS 45 and have had problems with it running for a short time then cutting out. The problem is like to be either- the filter attached to end end of the fuel pick hose that goes down into the fuel tank is blocked or- there is a crackor split in the corrugated section of the fuel pick up hose between the fuel tank and the carburettor. If such a crack or split exists it will cause air to be sucked in with the fuel upsetting the fuel/air ratio. A new hose not adjustment is the only cure
Stihl carb
Try this link. It has the carby settings on page 26 & 27 of the Stihl FS 45 manual.

How do we operate the trimmer to change it to trim
Most string trimmers can do this. Just turn it half-way around so the black handle is close to the ground (now string will spin in a verticle sweep instead of parallel to ground). Just walk along sidewalk nad trim. You will have to hold tightly to keep the line straight (brace against your hip and try to make several passes and cut a little at a time).
You may have a button that allows you to only turn the cutting head half way around (so you don't have to use your thumb to operate the switch). Either way, it will work fine.

No fuel getting through
I understand your ambitious nature wanting to fix it yourself but it will be easier for a professional to do it than tearing your hair out. There are too many pieces and parts that need to be put in the right way. You will save a whole lot headache from having someone else do this for you.
My stihl weedeater starts and idles fine but does not get power.
