Husqvarna 28cc Gas Line Trimmer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

A good fuel mixture ratio for any 2 stroke weedeater or chainsaw is 50:1. That equals out to 2.6 oz of oil per gallon of gasoline. Most 2 stroke oils can be bought in pre-measured containers at hardware stores or small engine dealers. It is best to not mix more than 2.5 gallons at a time. Hope this helps, Daniel.

I do not believe this lever comes loose from the carburetor. When a kit is ordered, the lever comes with the carburetor kit.

The only blade acceptable on this trimmer is a grass blade. Part number is 578 44 40-01

Make sure there is not debris stopping the head. Try removing the trimmer head and make sure the shaft turns freely. If it does the problem could be either the engine or clutch.

Change the spark plug and carburetor filter.

This string trimmer will use .080 trimmer line

Hi there your possibly mixing too much oil with the petrol. Try reducing the amount of two stroke oil.

Empty the tank and then remove old lines, then get the new lines and place them over the, after that just get the tank full and prime up and hey presto it should start.I\'m presuming this uses plastic fuel lines.

The local Husqvarna agent is the best place to start, e bay is also a source of pattern parts for Husqvarna machines, the part no. for the coil is 545046701

Joe Hi there. Sadly your trimmer will struggle on thick grass as it's not made for it. You could try moving the trimmer like a scythe. This will aid it as your cutting bit by bit.

I'm just doing mine right now. What follows refers to the earlier folding hoist model Rotary 42, not the fixed wire line models, or the current Hills folding hoists with this type line anchorhttp://www.breezedryer.com/index.php?p=product&id=791I found that Hills don't sell new line direct, so I got some poly core line from Mitre 10, 60m for $30.Study how the original line was strung through the clips and how it was tied at each end, and you will find that you have to remove 4 plastic wedges which secure the line in the end caps, these thingshttp://www.breezedryer.com/index.php?p=product&id=792The wedge is not shown. You just push it out upwards. Then cut away and pull out the old line from all the clips, these thingshttp://www.breezedryer.com/index.php?p=product&id=741Then tie the line onto one end cap as it was before, and restring the whole hoist. To get the line into the clips, you can carefully lever a bit with a screwdriver.Don't worry too much about tension yet, just leave the line a bit slack on each run. You will have to pass the coil of line over the top of the arms many times. Finally cut it off after the final run, leaving enough line hanging down to secure the arms in a bunch when the hoist is folded up.Make the final knot as it was, and then, without skewing the arms sideways, remove any slack going around and outwards, and finally pull in and tighten the final knot at the outer end, and replace the 4 wedges.The line will stretch, so you may need this final step once more.
