Lock at top of french door broke off need
Hi,
The brass slide locks are a kind of surface mounted deadbolt. They are available at home centers and hardware stores. Get ones that are at least 3 inches long with a 1 inch throw. Mount them three quarters back from the edge of the door to be sure to engage the wood backed edge. Notch the door trim to accept the bolt reciever. Install one at the top and the bottom. On the bottom one make sure it goes into the floor 1 inch. With these brass bolts and the plastic pins you can let the wind slam the door, or your drunk buddies, and not worry about snapping that woosie plastic pin.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
