Hayward 250kbtu Ng Pool Heater - Inground - Page 5 Questions & Answers
How do you light the pilot of a Hayward Heatmaster
If you have a pilot that need's to be lit you turn your gas valve to pilot and hold it down while you light the pilot and keep it down for 30-40 seconds to let the thermopile heat up enough to hold the gas valve on by itself. Then turn the gas valve to on.
Most heaters now will have an electronic ignition for the pilot or a hot surface ignitor. If you have power going to the heater then you have one of these heaters.
Let me know how you do. If it is one of these we can go further. Good luck.
I have a H250 heater that is showing CE,
If you have a remote controler you should check to be sure all connections to and at thr controler are sound then check all other connections on the heater itself. Check all the wireing and examine your board for any burnt spots or cracks. Some codes you get (this being one) will be kind of catch all's. Although a good place to start is the connections, this could be anywhere in the electric system. Good luck.
What is a limit string error locking out the
The limit string or saftey circut as it was called for years till it wasen't confusing any more is simpley the itims the heater goes through to be shure it is safe to light. This starts with the presure switch and is most often the fault. If you don't have enough water pressure than the heater won't fire. Check your baskets, filter and pump impeller. Then the high limits but these fail for the same reasons. Your thermostat is the next thing in line and the temp sensor or thermistor. (more new names) and on some models their was a flame roll out switch in the bottom front of cabnet. Your problem will be in one or more of these itims and you can usually check them by simpley jumping them with a small wire. But they do a job so do not leave the wire in place to make it work. Good luck.
H250 inground pool heater turns on 5 seconds shuts
This is a code for ignition falure. If you are getting a pilot then it means your Ignition module is not sensing the flame and shuting the gas down. This could be pilot wire burnt and grounding or a pilot flame not reaching the sensor or a bad ignition module. This is the expensive part so look into the other things first. Good luck.
How to winterize
You will find winterizing plugs on both water headers on the bottom side of the headers. Simpley remove these when you remove your other plugs on your pump and filter. Then store in a safe place for next season.
I JUST HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN .
If it is a defect get a factory guy out if you can , Hayward is a very good company for backing their stuff up. and rember flowers not thorns PS The same thing is not to discriptive of the problem.
How do you winterize?
pull the three (or so) drain plugs in your heater ... use a shop vac (without the filter in it) to blow and then **** out any remaining water.
hopefully, your pressure and suction pipes lead away and down from the boiler. Make sure you **** out those pipes as well.
You know how to drain your filter(s) and pumps ... right?
I hope this helps you
a
Hayward H250 -Gas.
Turn off the power and leave off for an hour then turn back on.That should reboot the system.
Pilot wont stay lit
Check the generator output to be certain it is above 400mV. If not, replace the generator. Otherwise repair or replace the entire pilot assembly, it is likely clogged down at the head of the pilot.
Pool heater cabinet gets so hot it burned the wires
That condition is from rollout of the burner flames. Check the underside of the heater top for a buildup of debris. Clean it if necessary. You may notice your heat echanger looks like a BBQ pit. If so it is sooted over and needs to be thoughouly cleaned before further use.
If you find this condition, you should also look at your burner tubes once the exchanger is cleaned and the heater is operating. Be sure the flames are nice and blue and 3 or 4 inches tall. If they are not, and especially if they are mostly yellow/orange, you need to do some more inspecting for what is messing up your combustion, which would have led to the soot.
Finally, if none of the previously mentioned conditions exist, consider wind pressure over the top of the heater. In windy areas and in certain installation conditions, you may needa high wind stack to provide positive drafting of exaust gas.
Lighting pilot on H250
Small red button in the bottom left corner of the heater. Looks like the ignitor on some grills. Push it hard enough and it will 'snap' which sends the spark out at the pilot head.
H250 heater spark, but no pilot
Spider nest in the pilot assembly. You should be able to pull the pilot out, remove the pilot tube and orifice inside, and see and clean out the silk.If not, a new assembly is about $100 from a pool store. We sell them at www.arrowmotor.net
Pilot light is lit, but heater will not fire
Make sure thermostat is set higher than water temperature.
Make sure pump is running and water is flowing through unit.
If gas valve is not opening then flame sensor or gas valve is bad.
