Simer 1/6 Hp Submersible Utility Pump Questions & Answers
Brand new Simer pump Model 2330-03 runs 10 seconds
Sounds like a faulty switch on the float. Try to hold the switch up by hand and see if it stays running, if so you may need to lube the switch. If not then it sounds like a manufacturer defect and needs to be returned.
What is the clear oil
10 weight non-detergent oil should be enough to get the proper oil. DO NOT fill the unit all the way to the cap - you need to leave ~20% available space at the top for thermal expansion and to avoid pressurizing the inside housing and blowing out the seal.

I am sorry to hear your getting oil, this is not a good thing. If you remove the pump from water and disconnect it from any power source, try removing the lower housing and take a look around the impeller if you can. If the leak is coming from around the edge of the main housing your in luck, it is probably the main seal that can be replaced without too much trouble. If the housing is cracked or leaking near the bearing I am sorry to say it would be best to start looking for a replacement pump.

It may be but you do have a problem in it's kicking the GFCI and when you plug it into another outlet your loosing the safety that provides. Get this to a motor shop and see if they can dry it out and seal the junction box at the top of the pump. Don't plug it in as elect. will kill and it's fast enough to get you before you know it.
My Simer 2300-03 has been great except that it
Yes. I recently used a similar pump (Flotech 1/6 hp) running for about 24 hours - but it came with this warning "don't use continuously unless submerged in at least 4 inches of water". This is because it will easily overheat, as yours has been doing. Mine worked for pumping water out of my basement (not the speediest little pump), but only because there is a sump hole in the floor where the pump could remain submerged.
