It appears that the motor is overheating, and then it turns off. There is a thermal overload switch that will turn off the heater, and when it cools back down, the motor will turn back on. A few things to check:

• Debris in the impeller
  • If so, remove it, this is causing the motor to overwork
• Was motor / impeller recently changed?
  • if motor was downsized from the one prior, it is overworking, because the impeller is still sized larger.
  • if impeller was upsized with an undersized motor, the motor is overworking
• Is the motor louder than normal?
  • The bearings are probably failing and the creating the motor to labor.

The green wire is the ground and bolts onto the motor frame on the top part,(should see a green screw). the other two wires go to the two posts with screws to clamp down on the wires. It does not matter which way these two are hooked up, one on each post.Most motors are pre-wired for 220v from the factory. If you have 220v you're good to go. If you happen to have a 115v setup the motor will run at half speed. The motor can be converted to 115v by moving a brown wire and a white wire in the motor. The diagram is on the motor label.Best to verify your voltage first.

Check the gate valves before and after the pump to make sure they are open all the way and to make sure the body of water is full enough so the pump does not cavitate the pump.RodUS Parts Center888-521-6183

make sure you make a wiring diagram or just unplug the plug from the mother board and search your area for your local pool pump repair guy with free testing. these are a high $$$ motor and not a good one to practice on, save it for a pro ! it might just be a dirty switch or need to be reset I don't charge any thing for that, and while your there ask him how to take better care of your $$$ pump ?jay the pool pump repair guy longwood Florida

None of the above. You hook your two line leads (the two hot 115 lines) to L1 and L2 and you hook up the ground to the green screw. Do NOT connect the neutral to the motor.

Check to see if you can turn by hand, Open housing and do this. Turn on and see if you can spin it and make it start(CAREFUL) If it won't turn ether when off or while it has power going to it, UH-OH! it's time for a new motor. If it will turn and starts when you spin it, it is probably just a start capacitor. Good luck.

I assume you mean the white wire under the rear motor cover? If so Sta-Rite puts a wiring diagram inside this back cover. Hopefully it is still intact for you. Depending on your model and if it is wired for 115vac or 220vac will make a difference. I would suggest you go to the link I attached and look up your manual. The manual will have the wiring diagram for you.

Is it still frozen?? If so thaw it out first.

If defrosted, will need to strip motor to see if you can hand turn it / free it up.

Pump is heating up and kicking the breaker try cleaning the pump filter and let me know by posting to this solution.
