There should be three wires. Two of them will be the same color and the third is usually white & red. The two like-colored wires go together on one pole of the capacitor. The red/white goes by itself on the other. It does not matter white pole is which wire(s), as long as you pair the wires as described.

Either one. Neutral to the other post. Be sure to set the voltage change device to 115V to match your incoming line voltage.

most manufacturers suggest replacing the sand every 5yrs. when the corners wear off, the sand rounds and doesnt catch debris. it also packs faster. if you are having short intervals between backwashing, it is a solid indication that sand needs replacing

it sounds like the pump is tripping the overheat relay. might be time for a new pump. depending on how far the 'tank above' is, you might not have enough pump to push water there.

needs a new motor and seals bearings are no good and you cannot replace them sometimes a new pump is cheaper in the long run

make sure you have clean source voltage coming in like a knicked wire touching the case, also make sure you dont have the hot wire leads touching the frame or something else

take the back off the motor change the white and brown wires as shown on the side of the motor or if it has a knob turn it to 120 volts then put the black wire on the F1 lead and the white wire on the F2 lead and the green one gets screwed to the case under the green screw
